Who here is going to the bloodlust festival in Sydney?

Here's what it is for those who don't know, and I'm not a street teamer btw.

Im seeing Deeds Of Flesh play on friday & sunday :D

So you're going to the gig at the Bat and Ball on friday? $15 for Deeds and Psycroptic is an awesome price! I just have to NOT get too hungover. 10 am early start for Bloodlust.

*bump*

Just thought I'd say this was bloody brutastic. Damn awesome night. over half a day's of metal wore me out. I wished the gig would never end though.

Any of you end up going?

My highlights:
Gospel of the Horns!!!!!!! \m/ FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! Best live aussie band.. My neck will be sore tomorrow.
Notable mentions to Atomizer, Portal, Psycroptic, Astriaal, Grenade, Intense Hammer Rage and the technical brutality of Deeds of Flesh!!!!

Tops bloody night!

I was there, and it was a most excellent day indeed. I was the guy with the ponytail and Portal shirt, if you happened to see me in your travels.

Highlights for me:
Punisher
Arkheth (my god, how they've improved. Had to laugh at the keyboard player fighting with his cloak all through the set, hehe)
Intense Hammer Rage (again, much comic relief when they screwed up one of their songs 3 times before finally giving up on it  )
Portal (right up there with Nazxul and Astriaal as our best band right now. Mind numbingly intense)
Darklord
Astriaal (sounded much better after their last few trips to Sydney, which I thought were a bit lacking)
Psycroptic
Deeds Of Flesh (incrediby tight and brutal. Nice guys as well)

I missed Infernal Method and Gospel Of The Horns as Subway was beckoning. No great loss as I've seen both numerous times before and both aren't really my cup o' tea anyway. Missed Atomizer as well as I was downstaris watching Parra go down to the Warriors :(

Picked up some cool stuff as well...a "Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz" era Impaled Nazarene shirt, Portal's new album plus "Seepia" on vinyl, and a Maniac Butcher vinyl.

Can't wait until next year.

^ I saw one bloke in a Portal shirt. May have been you. You probably saw me, I was the guy wearing a black shirt.

How's 'The Sweyy' like? I have had Seepia for a long time and love it. Live, well my jaw was on the ground most of the time. Funny moment for me was one of the Darklord lads coming into the toilets and standing near me, in corpse paint and all. i thought the image was hilarious.

IHR drummer is amazing! And he was singing at the same time!!

Damn would have loved to go but had to spend the entire bloody day working on my car, which turned out to be a waste of time anyway as we couldn't get the exhaust manifold off. 8 hours work and all I got out of it was a friggin' oil change!

Well if you were wearing a black shirt I definitely saw you then. Along with 500-odd of your twin brohers. I don't think I saw anyone else in a Portal shirt, so the buffoon you saw might well have been me. I was with my girlfriend, her brother, and a couple of mates. We were at the tables at the far end of the room most of the time.

I've only heard "The Sweyy" twice so I can't comment too much, but on first impressions, the production is meatier and the songs are a bit more varied. There's your standard fast, technical Portal song, a slower number ("Werships", which they played at BL), and an atmospheric time waster. There are also live versions of "Atmosblisters" and "Transcending A Mere Multiverse" recorded at last year's Bloodlust.

The vinyl version of "Seepia" is a lovely shade of brown. It's one of the most disgusting shades of brown I've ever seen, I'm afraid to put it on my turntable, lest it leave filth all over my stylus.

Darklord were quite interesting. Nice to see them introducing the double-necked guitar to black metal  I had a corpsepaint toilet experience with Arkheth at the Vic a couple of months ago. The men's room was empty when I went into the cubicle to do my thang, and what do I see when I get out but 3 guys jockeying for space in front of the mirror, trying to put their corpsepaint on without spilling their beers. Now that's metal

haha. There were also some girls there who were yelling at Darklord "we love you Kiss!" Haha, I don't think Black Metal should be taken so seriously, but whatever floats their boat. If you were at the tables with seats, I was there a fair bit. I have big boofy blonde hair.

Haha yeah I did hear the name "Kiss" mentioned a few times when the corpsepaint bands were on. How about during Darklord's set, when after the first song the singer says in his nekro voice "We are Darklord from the city of burning f**king churches, Adelaide!!!", and then after the second song, in his normal voice "Uh, can we get some more drums in the foldback?". Looks like even Satan himself gets a bad mix occasionally.

So you're the guy with the out of control afro? I saw you many a time then, you're a bit hard to miss with that hair, haha.

Yeah, that's me. I'm sure I was annoying a lot of people in the crowd as a lot of people decided to pull my hair. But I was trying to slouch, or stay out of people's way.

There are some pics up at www.metalofoz.com with more to come!
