Bonus Points are unfair.

Glanced at the Super 14 table this morning and noticed the Brumbies have more wins than the Crusaders, Yet the Crusaders are in the finals.

IMO it is completely unfair for a team to have less wins and make the finals.

FTR I am glad no Aussie team made the finals, this about the system not the teams involved.

the bonus points have been there for ages

what else would you suggest ?

bearing in mind the home ground isn't just up the road like at Kogarah Jubilee, it can be on the other side of the world

so an Aussie team would have virtually no fans in RSA

I like the bonus point system, it rewards teams who are competitive and who dominate. So a team like the cheifs who lost a buch of close games then dealt out a few hammerings later themselves get their performance recognised.

I would suggest a team that wins more games should progress further than one who won less.

Perhaps they should be used to seperate teams on the same amount of wins.

Seriously, what if you run into a team that has a few injuries and you flogg them , then 2 weeks later they are back to full strength and only get beat by 2 points.

I just think it is unfair that a team that won 9 games misses out to a team that won 8. Just does not seem right.

i think they are a positivie for the games, score 4 tries get a bonus point, lose by 7 or less get a bonus point

it attracts open, positive rugby whats wrong with that?

not broken leave it alone

Do you think a team with 8 wins making the finals ahead of a team with 9 wins is not broken? It's the very essence of broken.

Score more tries and you would have made it.

should be points on the board that decides a win, not 'nearly' points on the board.

should a team with 9 wins and 4 losses be ahead of a team with 8 wins and 5 draws?

I see what you're saying, but the Crusaders didn't have 5 draws. If they did, then they are obviously a better performing team. Without bonus points, the team with 8 wins and 5 draws would still get up.

i can see the furstration for a brumbies fan but to be fair... its been the same for 11 years.

why is it all of a sudden an issue?? the brumbies ceratinly arent the first team to be affected by bonus pts. you may not want to admit it but it just sounds like sour grapes from AUS/Brumbies fans.

I like the BP system they use...

as a previous poster states, it rewards teams that "loose close", and rewards teams that win big...

It assures that most all matches, no matter what the score line is, still give BOTH teams an incentive to play all out rugby... If you are down, you could still possibly get a BP for 4 tries, or for loosing by 7pts... even if you don't win. If you are up comfortably, you still keep trying to get more tries, instead of going for the easy penalty goals... keeps the game interesting on both sides of the game...
