Again, everyone realises this. It's just that only one out of 16 clubs came up with the phrase 'Bred not Bought.' And then Bought a sh*tload of players.I hate to break the news to you all (and I predict morons will try and flame me with comments about how "Broncos fans wouldn't understand" or "Broncos fans have no soul because we win at life", etc) but threads like this epitomize the "living in 1980" mindset I despise about MANY Rugby League supporters.
Guys, it's 2010.
Do you really expect PROFESSIONAL sporting teams (in any sport) to develop the majority of their roster? The days of players starting at Under 14s and growing up through the ranks died in 1960. And even then it wasn't a reality. For decades the greats have traded teams, clubs stacked teams (St George, Souths), RL poached Union players for decades, hell one of RL's founding players turned his back on his "origins". Give it up already.
As Rugby League fans we have State Of Origin, which is probably the most unique sporting competition in the world outside of International matches, in terms of players playing for their Origins. This is the only situation where a players Origins should even be questioned.
In no other PROFESSIONAL sporting competitions in the world, would clubs even be expected to have a majority of their playing roster self-grown.
Don't get me wrong, I believe junior development is the highest priority of any sport, however that isn't the main role of PROFESSIONAL teams. PROFESSIONAL teams have an obligation to win Premierships.
Personally, I think it's great that Queensland players come from far and wide, in means that junior development from all areas of Queensland, is working. NSW based RL fans should feel the same, instead of bitching about a PROFESSIONAL team buying another player (who incidentally is a has-been anyways).

That is the joke.
Thurling was at the Dogs from 2002-2005 (played Jersey Flegg- FG) and signed to play with your mob in 2006. Pretty sure was originally from Quenbeyan.Raiders

Vidot isn't a Canberra junior, but I'd say by a long stretch the Raiders are definitely the best at raising juniors to their first grade side.
Them and Penrith.
How can you possibly make that in this instance? We found Luke over in NZ when he was a nobody and our talent scouts brought him over. How are we raiding other clubs if we found this guy before any other club did? THEN once we brought him over here, Souths poached him off us. We got raided by Souths. Also, what justifies saying that "We're too stupid to keep them..." - Does that mean that every club who cannot re-sign a player is stupid? Does that mean the Warriors are stupid everytime one of their players has signed with another club? Or Melbourne? Or Brisbane? Or St. George for that matter? I think not!LMFAO!! so youve just proved that not only does your club raid other clubs like the best of them... youve also proved that when you actually do 'produce' a decent talent(and i use the word produce very loosely with luke as he was just poached by the dogs before any other NRL clubs)... your too stupid to keep them.
I love when fans just pull figures from the air to make it easier for them to say "f**k off" to an ex-player.
Did that website have dailytelegraph in the URL?
Agreed! Reminds me of 2004. How devastated were all the Bulldogs players, officials and fans to hear that Steve Price signed with the Warriors for 3 years? We were all in disbelief. Did that affect our performance? Well, we won the Grand Final that year...Adamson is a tosser. These ex-players simply don't understand that it's a business these days.
As if one player announcing he is leaving next year will affect their football this season. What a fruitloop.
