Bowler's Solution to Twenty-20 Cricket

With people saying that Twenty-20 is not much of a game for the bowlers, I have a solution (I think).

Not sure how many of you have ever doctored the ball in backyard cricket but it has certainly happened in my domain. We normally just put some tape on one side so that it swings a sh*teload. Imagine how hard it would be if the ball was made so that it swung a couple of feet. You would probably see most test matches struggle to last a full day with such a ball. But that is not to say that you need to doctor it that much, just enough to see a well balanced contest.

Yeah but if you have just twenty overs to use your ten wickets, the batsmen are going to try to launch even the best balls.
I wouldn't even bother selecting specialist bowlers, I'd go with a bunch of all rounders in the tail, like Watson, Hopes, and the like.

Yeah but if you stick to a half decent line and length and throw in the odd yorker, its conceviable that you can restrict teh run rate to 4.5 - 6.0 an over, frustrate the batsman into throwing his wicket away. Bit like in Indoor cricket.

No way in the world youd use all rounders as specialist bowlers, even in a mickey mouse game of cricket.

Yeah, goes alright in a game of park cricket with some mates and beer.
When are you and androtop boy Nathan coming up here again, have to organise a game down at bateau bay oval opposite the bateau bay pub of course.

Dunno brother. I'm currently on the job market, so I'm a bit busy at the moment.
I thought of you last Saturday (not in that way :) ), there was a winner named Key Largo Lad.

Best solution is to make a rule that the batsmen must drink 1 beer per over. that way it would be almost impossible for a batsmen to survive 10-12 overs. If the beer isn't completely down by the time the ump calls over, your out.

Sounds like a great idea. I remember a few years back we had a college golf day and there were 2 beers sitting in an esky for you at the 1st, 4th and 7th tees. By the time we got to the 9th hole we were smacking the balls everywhere more out of being silly buggers than that the alcohol had affected us, although it certainly did affect us

Anyway, as for the original topic, something needs to be done about cricket since it is SO BLOODY BORING. Just compare league and cricket regarding crowd shots. The cameramen for the cricket probably have to take a test to see that they can pick out attractive people so they can zoom in on them between balls. You only see this sort of thing in league so they can show you the emotion on people's faces.

The bowlers should be allowed to bowl 1 Underarm ball per over. I'd like to see a batsman try and hit a 6 with one of those.

I think a hole to crawl in would be the first priority of Trevor Chappel.
