I thought he was a better player than most people did, and deserved more of a shot when at Penrith, he couldn't have been any worse than the sh*t they were presenting!

Firman never got much game time while at penrith simply because he was always injured never got more than 4 games in a row without getting injured. He was given a fair chance at penrith just one of those unlucky players

Hmm

Was he playing for Cronulla in 2002? Serious question im really curious

Yeah In the lower grades. He never played first grade for them, signed with St George for the following season and burst onto the scene as the next great halfback. Lost his first grade spot to Matt Head the following year and signed with the Roosters... released mid contract and headed to the Cowboys and then Penrith and now who knows.

From memory, he didn't lose out to Head, rather he destroyed his knee in a preseason match and missed the entire season.

The Roosters signed him under the recommendation of Ricky Stuart. Politis (Gus as well, I believe) wanted Thurston, but Stuart convinced him that after coaching Thurston in Jersey Flegg, he wasn't a NRL standard player.

Thanks, Sticky. Thanks a lot.

Thats the biggest load of Shyte ever on the NRL forums. Sticky has always had great regard for JT & always thought he would play for Australia. Everybody was interested in JT when he came off contract & the most interested was Steve Rogers. 2 things prevented the Sharks from signing him & he would have, is firstly the size of Kimmorleys contract & secondly the Bulldogs scandal. Make what you will of that, but Sludge decided to not pursue JT from that point & it was something he regretted.

Yeah you're right. But once Matt Head had wrapped up the first grade number 7 jumper Firman was allowed to leave, the Roosters marketed him as a big signing but like Ricky Stuart and every halfback he's ever coached, changed his mind rather quickly.

Nope. Head pipped him for the starting spot in Round 2 I believe. Shortly after that, Firman hurt himself (playing reserve grade with Head in firsts).

Last I heard he was make low rent FFFM Porno, but admittedly my source isn't as credible as a fuzzy face on four corners.
