I kept quiet until i knew for sure but i have on good advice (once removed member of the family) that Brett WHITE is signed until 2010 and is DEFINETLY NOT going anywhere...Might be Kaufusi? If not them who's the representative forward?

They might have meant the caveman?

White would have been a good pick-up, Kaufusi would also be good.

When i saw that thread this morning i thought the exact same thing. Could have been a delayed rumour to our attempts to grab the caveman.

The Bunnies are far from paupers in the front row stakes. Asotasi, Geddes, Greenfield, Stuart and Lowe have all played first grade in the front row with some to great success. Meanwhile, Ryan Verlinden and Luke Grant seem to be going alright for the Bears.

This is kind of depth craps on what the Eels have, not to mention teams like the Tigers.

Even without Manoukafoa, I think the Bunnies are strong in this department ... which is not to say they couldn't be even stronger.

With the emergence of Sandow and Capewell (who I still think more of in terms of a half), I think the only real high priority signing would be a classy fullback. A prop/secondrower would be - very welcome - gravy.

"Need" is different to "want". Qaulity is quality and if the Bunnies could secure another quality forward then I'd be happy about it ... but I agree that they may not NEED one.

1st priority: FB
2nd priority for me: both a Prop and a Backrower

Lets face it, we released Cusack last year, and have now lost Nelson for 09 without signing anyone (Yet). We still need a solid workhorse to forfill Cusacks old role within the club. As we can't rely on poor Roy and Stuart to be our battering rams all of the time and tackle everything IMO.

Geddes is going well, but him and Roy will need support in 09. Greenfield is a totally different player alltogether, with his running up off-load game, we need to pickup someone similar to what Cusack offered us.

This is based on the assumptions that Kidwell might not be here in 09, and that J.Lowe doesn't change his game plan, and keeps on giving away a bucket load of penalties everygame..(hence why he isn't playing 1st grade at the moment).

I read some wraps for Verlinden a couple of weeks ago. What kind of prop is he? Worker or impact (to overly simplify it)?

I think Luke Stuart is starting to fill Yak's shoes nicely, although another worker might be desireable.

Kafusi isn't a Cusack-like worker, but he does play second row too. His fitness still seems poor since returning from injury.

Beside maybe Kafusi, who all is on the market?

According to http://people.aapt.net.au/darrylbradford/2009_mov.htm (which isn't a resource I overly trust) Jesse Royal from Newcastle is available as well as Aaron Cannings from Gold Coast. Then there's Michael Luck from the Warriors.

Royal is more like Manoukafoa (with a bit flashier offload) than the others, but is unproven himself. He definitely isn't the kind of player Brian Smith likes, so I doubt the Knights are trying to retain him. Richard Fa'aoso is listed too ... he's certainly big and strong and has a name not too different from Fa'alogo. :)

Aaron Cannings would complement Roy nicely. I'm surprised he's even available, but he went well at the Eels and has come on from there at the Titans.

Michael Luck is more of a backrower, I think, but he certainly is a tackling machine.

Bugger all fullback knocking around the joint, though. Sigh.

Absolutely, Luck is fantastic team player, just keeps on going.

He would look great in the Cardinal and Myrtle.
He is still on contract fro a couple more years yet. But if you want a workhorse backrower Wairangi Koopu is off contract and so mid Logan Swann. Both would be good and they both haver been told that they will not be signed next year.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me that that website would not be reliable.

Who knows who is and isn't signed nowadays ... not to mention the flimsy nature of contracts anyway (from both sides of the coin).
