I just want to say that I think Smith is a great tactical coach, but with the team he has chosen this week he deserves everything if we lose. Wagon at 5/8 is a disaster and Peterson at 3/4 is a walking disaster. Why is this man punishing us for?? The Bulldogs will run riot this weekend.

on the eels side wagon is listed as being injured so unless its outta date i wouldnt be suprise if he does not play.

I thought this thread was an invitation to bash the coach. Everyone here has been pretty mild.

I think he's lost in his own ego. He keeps picking the wrong player in the wrong position just so if they have a blinder, everyone will call him a genius.

I've said it before, Brian, Top four or out the door.

There are some major questions over the team and quite a few intresting I guess is the word, selections but

a) It is only Tuesday - changes can happen
b) Dykes has played hb in all 3 trials and the Eels havn't lost a game
c) the game hasn't been played yet anything can happen


As has been said wait till after the game. I'm not syaing the selections will work but i'm also not writting off the team for the year 3 days before the season even kicks off

Who here has trained all off season with the team? no one. Therefore none of us know the syle we are gunna play. Fair enough it may not work but then again it may be the secret of success. Who thought Penrith would win the comp with no defence last year? Lets just give it time.

The only problem i see is a major lack of creativity! Parramatta have two recongised playmakers. Usually Parramatta have about 5, the fullback (Hodgson), 5/8(Buettner, Dykes), Halfback(Taylor, Green, Mcfadden, Witt), hooker(Drew,Morris) and bench utility(Marsh, Dunley, Duckworth).

I would really like to see Morris move to 5/8, with Dykes at HB, Hopkins at Hooker and Witt on the bench.

I dont believe this! The season hasnt even started yet there already is criticism directed at Smithy! HERES AN IDEA, INSTEAD OF BAGGING HIM, HOW ABOUT SUPPORTING THE MAN WHO HAPPENS TO COACH THE TEAM WE SUPPORT! BTW, how many in here are actually NRL first grade coaches?

Why do we need to train with the team all off season just to be able to pass judgement. Most of us here are long standing Parra tragics. We are aware of players capabilities.

Why should we give it time - are you suggesting we lose 9 from 11 like last year - I think not. Brian Smith himself has admitted that it is imperative for the Eels get of to a good start this year.

I, like alot of other people are surprised at his selections for the weekend however I'm surprised the reaction, it got out of all of you at the very least, we will be competative on Saturday night whether we win or not is another matter. But here's something to think about, if we lose by less than 20 points is it a better start to the year than this time last year?

Jic don't forget all of the seasons that Brian has been coach. We know what he's like. I WILL NOT support him if he makes ridiculous decisions.

If I'm at work and make a bad judgement call, I get a deserved kick in the rear end. Brian gets an extended contract.
