Millers, I never suggested that getting CA back was the answer, that bridge was totally burned long ago.

But the problem we have is that the bridge we replaced it with is looking no better.

Aries, I note you didn't answer my question - are you are happy with the level of indiscipline that Raper has tolerated? yes or no.

re the Sponsors - name 2 that said they would leave if CA stayed.

That's 2 questions isn't it?

THAT illdisipline you talk of is STILL a hang over of CA and his mind set and what THAT era stood for. To answer your question... NO! I'm not happy at all. This is the legacy CA has left us with. Don't forget, they were still being trained by CA (His instructions to Raper) while he was in England in 2003-2004.
I have also said that my mum could have coached the Aussies to a Victory over the Pom's back then.

You have to admit that Raper is way better talking to the media than CA will ever be. CA had serious "foot in mouth" desease...

The sponsors names: Ask the club who they were, they were the ones leaking the info...

Raper has had all the time in the world to cure the ill discipline and he has failed.

Raper talks well. oh good, I don't give a toss if he says anything to the media or what it is he says when he comments.

You judge a coach by the teams on field performance and our team is not performing on the park - if that doesn't change we will get the finest 'we didn't make the 8 again this year' speech in the clubs history. will you applaud it and look forward to another the following year?

Entertaining medicocrity is not something to aim for in professional sport.

Re the sponsors, you have nothing.

Am I missing something.

Haven't we won 2 from 3 and in the top 8?

Give me Raper any day of the week.
Anderson was a complete control freak who cried like a bitch when challenged.

Ask Dean T, Preston C or Nick G what they think of him as a bloke.

Sludge giving him an ear bashing re: his inept sons sacking was a golden moment.

yes carc we are in the top eight with souths and manly

a narrow win against the panthers who played badly

we got slaughtered by a 12 man manly outfit

we got up in a narrow win against the eels

so far a win and a loss against non top eight sides from 2004 and the annuial first round loss for the panthers

i dont think many people will say we have been playing well

raper did highlight discipline and we still suffer

it will cost us games if it continues

aries beleives that the ill discipline is a hang over from the anderson era

i wonder when raper will actually be held accountable for the teams discipline problems

2007?

This is all true and I understand your point of veiw and agree.
However , I saw us lose games we should of won under Anderson, at least we're winning games we should of lost ...but should of won anyway.
Does that make sense.

I thought our discipline wasn't too bad last week , although the blokes laying on the tackle were killing me.

Im more concerned with 44 missed tackles...maybe when they did finally tackle someone they were making the most of it.

The good thing is we have two wins under our belt , how many times in the past have we been beaten by a much better team on the bell?

Last year
in the wind against the dogs...
the last two years in round one were games we left slip through our fingers ...so compared to the last couple of years I'm not complaining.

We might not be playing great but we are not sitting on zero praying for a bye.

I think we'll get up this week.

Look, I think Raper has worked well on the discipline problems. OK the Manly game was a throw back to the dark days of 2003.

Last year our nexus of bad discipline was in the 36-10 loss to Souths. The next game our discipline improved against the Cowboys. In fact we were too disciplined and the Cowboys killed us in the play the ball. Then we flogged the Raiders. I don't think our discipline was too bad towards the end of the year, our defence let us down if anything

Sure Raper needs to improve, but I reckon he's light years ahead of Anderson. 2003 was dark and dismal thanks to Anderson.

Sheros you mean 2004 don't you?

Look we're not playing our best at the moment and are still 2 from 3. Injuries, suspensions and poor captaincy have played there part. But this team has a heap of talent and we'll give this comp a shake for sure.

I don't think Millers or Black Tip Reefy hold much hope for the side.
BTR has predicted us to get flogged 4 weeks in a row and Millers continually plays down our players and chances for the comp and rubbishes our coach Stuart Raper.

You'd think they'd go fishing if they thought we weren't going to do any good this year.

No he means 2003.
when we had the coach that you supported to the umpteenth hour.
support that made you a pariah on this forum.

I may as well tell you that.

lets follow the DS recipe for success.

Ingredients
4 cups of Anderson(angry, unshaven & rude type)
2 cups of Barry Pierces board of directors
2 cups of David. ( 1 Peachey & 1 Simmons)
1 loaf of jasen Stevens
sprinkling of Galloway
small bunch of loyal in form players.

method.
None.

Just react off the top of your head at anything that you dont agree with.
Ensure Anderson stays coach for 20-30 years.
Make sure you promote the fact that all possible new coaches arent a scratch on Ando.
Sack peachey.
Replace peachey with bumbling fumbling young guy in his 3rd year of rugby league. make sure he was good at touch footy.
If peachey sacking doesnt happen, never stop. Too much peach hate, is never enough. Keep going even if Peach is 40. He will go one day.
If new coach is appointed, immediately say how you thought it was a good idea & give him full on fuzzy wuzz support. Forget about your pathological support of the Ando, The Undead.
At every opportunity bag any players over the age of 21. They are old & have no ability or usefulness.
Always be confident in the fact that not resigning a form player for 150k & singing a less capable player for 3 times the price, is good economic management.

Once all ingredients are locked in, sprinkle with paragraph after paragraph of football related matter that makes you look like you know what you are talking about.
At least the younger ones will believe it.

Look at the stats and the 'quality' of the teams we have played - against decent teams we will get flogged on those performances.

Getting excited about ladder position on week 3 of the comp is simply ignorant, at this stage look at trends not position - our defence is appalling and we will pay the price for that if it is not fixed.

Our disciple fell apart in the first 5 mins of the Manly game and we were soundly beaten by a 12 man team. does that make you happy? that our team MAY hold its discipline IF we are winning all game - but can't manage it when the going gets tough - even when we have a one man advantage?

My problem with Raper is he has failed to deliver. Discipline and defence were identified as our 2 key problems when he was hired, Discipline should have been fixed within 2 months, defence should have been fixed in the off season - both are still our key problems.

I want Raper to prove me wrong, but his track record in the NRL is not impressive at all, so it is hard to see how he will manage it.

Well I have to say it sounds painful but to be honest, I didnt even see him on the field let alone falling apart.

The twelve apostles of the order of the evil eagle?

Against Parra our discipline was bad for the first thirty minutes. However, we toughed it out and stayed in the game.

I was happy to get the two points against the Eels. With a weakened forward pack I wasn't expecting much.

With close to our best pack on the field against the Dogs I have higher expectations. Of course we have to improve.
