If anyone is considering having a game this year why not have a run for Brisbane's fighting Irish in the BRU Division 2 competition.....

We play out of Purtell Park in Bardon. Training is Tuesdays & Thursday from 7pm.

Looks good Stewbum.

I've just turned 30 and used to play for the Griffith Uni Redbacks in the mid 90's in the lower divisions. I've been thinking about playing again, but recently hurt my knee. Not sure of the damage, but hopefully its not too bad and I'll be up and running soon.

Just a few questions?

Is it just the one team...and how serious is the rugby taken?

You're welcome bayrep. We're trialling againt your locals next Sat actually :D

Thomas, there is a first grade and second grade. I think we have around 40 players so definately need more.

Second grade will be pretty social and first grade will probably take it pretty serious so something for everyone. They take the training fairly serious though. In seasons past it was just a game of touch and a few beers but this year training is well organized.

There's plenty of us in the 30 plus category 8) and there's plenty of younger blokes too.

Hope the knee is on the mend and hope to see you at training one day soon.

The Irish opened their 2004 season with respectable losses to Wynnum in 2 trials today at Elanora Park, Wynnum.

The Bugs play a division above the Irish so it was a tall order to win but both 1sts and 2nds gave a good account of themselves.

Next trials are against Kenmore at Kenmore in 2 weeks.

Are Kenmore the favorites to win the 2nd Division ? Good score by the Rhinos must be a good team.

Nah Kenmore are up from Division 3 this year. They are very keen to do well in Div 2 though. Beat us in a dirty trial.

Ozbash I hope he's soft and playing tight head prop so I can survive the day.

We got beat 17 - 10 in a close game. Got back to 12 - 10 down but immediately conceded a try with only minutes to go.

Murrumba seemed like decent blokes. We'll get em in round 2.

Stew, did the club release limited edition jerseys in recognition of your debut?

If so, where can I get one?

and if not, do they sell jersey's anyway?

Round 3 the Irish went down in two close games against the Brisbane Harlequins. Both irish sides led for periods of the game.

Round 4 saw the mighty Irish 2nds victorious over PIDA (Pacific Islanders Development Association) to the tune of 35 - 10. We were down 10 - 0 after they rattled us out wide but our forwards tightened the game up and started going forward. Our backs then opened them up.

Great to have a win at last.

1sts had a hard fought loss after giving away too large a start.

Today the irish take on the Bayside Barbarians at Purtell Park. 1sts 4.30pm, 2nds 3pm.

Thanks Mr Bash!

I'm getting into the rucks & mauls but am still a rank amatuer in the scrums.

We had a great win today 13 - 10 over the Barbarians. Bloody fantastic. 1sts were down 10 - 7 at half time and it's anyone's game there too.

The day I kick a ball for the Irish in a game would be the last time I get handed the ball.

2 wins from 5 now and the season is backm on track. Look out Riverview next week.
