If you live within 10,000 km of Brisbane there really is no excuse to not see this. Fred Negro is a legend. The Cosmic Psychos are awesome. The Hekawis are superb.

COSMIC PSYCHOS HEAD GREAT BRISBANE FEST LINE-UP
The Third Annual Brisbane Rock'n'Roll Festival is nearly here and looks like the biggest year yet!! Previous years showcased such talent as The Specimens, The Meek, Roll Cage, The Aampirellas, Gazoonga Attack and The Gammarays. This year continues the great Rock'n'Roll vomit with some familiar peas and carrots as well as some new and tasty treats.

Since their first show in '84, after eight albums and over a dozen international tours, the Cosmic Psychos will headline this years festival. "Bass that sounds like farm equipment, drums that sound like the Geelong Ford factory, guitar like brain surgery with a Hoover vacuum cleaner and vocals like some drunken extra from Mad Max trying to pick a fight with you". The Band has only played a hand full of shows since finishing the extensive 2001-2002 world tour. The boys are looking forward to getting back on the road and the Brisbane gig will be one of the first of "The Psychos Back in Town Again" shows across Australia.

Brisbane street press paper Timeoff had this to say about one of the other top-billed bands: "The word 'urgent' has been liberally thrown around fresh rockers Nightstick. Well, here's a few more: relentless, hazardous and erratic - like a knife-wielding junkie in a suburban shopping mall. From vocalist Heinz Riegler's alarmed screams of "Wake the f**k up!" in opener 'Very New' to the faultlessly in-sync jam 'Monkey' and the developed choruses of 'Queens' and 'Holiday', Nightstick offer up their pint of blood and pull off a set like no other."

Also appearing: The Cants - three-piece Melbournian ‘60s garage punk beat animals - will be playing their first ever Brisbane show. They have received rave reviews and huge national airplay for their debut singles "Complications" and "Buffet".

The Busymen (vintage ‘60s underground garage rock and roll, stompin’ rhythm’n’blues, with a crossover into early ‘70s proto-punk, and degenerate teen cave swamp rock); Fred Negro and the Vaginabillies (now a four-piece); Vegas Kings (drunken swagger swamp rock); The Hekawis, (marking their 10th year and the release of their fourth album Gutterball Pete and the Shaolin Drunks (with a set list that includes six T-Rex covers); The DangerMen (righteous mix of Birdman, Stooges and Stones) and The Wild ("a ‘60s girl group turned evil") flesh out the Brisbane ranks.
Loud and dirty Sydneysiders Hell Crab City are making their Brisbane debut and cite Zeke, Rose Tattoo and a pinch of Turbonegro as influences. They feature ex-members of The New Christs, The Del-Emmas, The Panadols and Jim Cobain.
