I think a Lions XIII would have been a good idea on Rep weekend (like the Exiles in Super League for 3 seasons).
They could have played Fiji for example and that would have let the Cook Islands play PNG.
Steve McNamara is already working at the Roosters and is the England coach and could have a get-together for the English players in the NRL plus a few that are eligible for Scotland,Wales & Ireland.
1-Sam Tomkins (Warriors&E)
2-James McManus (Knights&S)*
3-Jack Reed (Broncos&E)
4-Kane Linnett (Cowboys&S)
5-Pat Richards (WT&I)
6-Gareth Widdop (SGI&E)
7-Peter Wallace (Panthers&S)
8-George Burgess (Souths&E)
9-Josh Hodgson (Raiders&E)
10-James Graham (Bulldogs&E)
11-Tom Burgess (Souths&E)
12-Tyson Frizell (SGI&W)
13-Mike Cooper (SGI&E)
+
Greg Eden (Broncos&E)***
Ben Crooks (Eels&E)***
Api Pewhairangi (Warriors&I)
Luke Douglas (Titans&S)
Rory Kostjasyn (Cowboys&I)
Keith Galloway (WT&S)**
Luke Burgess (Manly&E)***
James Hasson (Manly&I)
Chris Heighington (Sharks&E)

*McManus was born in Scotland but hasn't played for them.
**Galloway i'm not sure about but I seem to recall he was in the reckoning for Scotland's 2013 WC squad but withdrew with injury.
*** Uncapped
There may be more eligible players (probably more than half with eligibility rules these days :?),
but none I could think of at the moment.

I actually font mind the idea although i think you would be hard pressed in making it happen, would rather see a 3 week rep break mid season with origin, pacific tests and a 2 match kiwi origin (maybe auckland v the rest?) followed by england coming down to play NZ to finish.

similar topic, i think that we should ha e tours every 4 years in the middle of WC cycles. NZ, Aus and eng are the obvious touring sides, but i would add a pacific nations touring side sort of like the west indies setup. If for example england are in australia touring why couldnt nz take on a combined islands side in a 3 match series
