Broncos game

We were always up against it in the first half with the sheer weight of possession against us. Broncos defence absolutey smothered us, didn't give our forwards any rhythm. Willie Mt Isa was thinking too far ahead, slipped twice and fumbled his play the ball at crucial times.
Ball handling skills under pressure were average.

The side is still a bit green.
Smith should start at 5/8th and Inglis at centres next game.

Was never a fan of Isa starting at center for us and it was for defensive reasons not attacking. Were just to small out wide with him there. Hopefully if he goes back to CC or NYC he keeps his chin up and works on his game as i think theres a spot on the wing for him next year.

The two options for us either bring Tomane in, who is a better defender then isa but probaly didnt look as urgent as isa in the preseason or bring one of Maloney or Chisholm into the side. Maloney is the safe option while Chislholm would be a massive call he really has looked great and is very similar to Taumata. I dont think long term we benfit from having Cam at 5/8.

Our bench will look alot stronger once Manu and White come back as at the moment Tolman and Anderson arent really impact players.

Best tonight was Blairy again, really joining the elite of the competition while the improvemtn in the Procs game from last week to this week was huge and he did look like that impact player you can bring off the bench.

the worst refereeing performance ive ever seen, but regardless of that we just didnt want it enough, gi was lazy, slater was hampered by something most the night, cronk lacked direction and between quinn turner isa and chambers, they would be lucky to be 2nd last in the comp for potency in the three quarter line. we hung on and were hanging on for most of the game, people like smith, blair, lima, proctor, anderson, tolman and DJ played like world beaters, but no one in the back line was interested in giving them a hand, i praise our forwards, i think they were alot better than brisbane, but our attack in the backs was woeful. ill admit we looked better with hinchcliffe on though, maybe we need to stick with that set up for the bulk of the game instead of the last 15 minutes. always next week i guess

Nothing wrong with Chambers. He was easily our best back tonight.

The common opinion is that the backline is not potent enough...IMO Inglis needs to get some consistency in his game. He ghosts through games doing little and occasionally pulls out a big game but this is not good enough.

If GI started to get more consistent then the backline would be freed up to start running off him when he breaks the line.

The forwards are doing their job...we need Manu back to add strength.

IMO the standouts in the first 2 games have been Blair and Smith.

I heard all this talk about Inglis bulking up but to see him in the flesh last night I thought he is carrying too much weight, he has put on fat not muscle IMO

I'm liking the look of Tolman, I reckon he might be the goods in a few years.

We just didn't attack with the same flair we show when we are on song. Inglis was definitely carrying injuries and didn't make an impact.

To be fair to Inglis, he was carrying two injuries.

Then the question is ??...why was he playing ??.

Bellamy should have played Maloney because it pretty much left us a player down when we simply could not afford to carry a player.

The ref was a douche, Smith should have been at 5/8 and Inglis shouldn't have played at all, imo. Why put him on with two injuries!!

How fast was the game though! It was blink and miss it stuff. Also, wanted to punch Izzy in the gonads for his horrid acting skills. What a twat!

yeah the stupid ref for some reason wanted the the game to go faster :(:x, i do agree that Inglis shouldn't have played at all but they didn't have backup if he didn't play hopefully he come back into form hopefully soon

lol he isnt out of form. he played good last week. It looked as tho he was uncomfortable with the knee and shoulder, in hindsight it would have been best if he missed out hopefully he can get his knee and shoulder right and see him at centre a bit more.

Did'nt have back up ??...then this is a real problem and we will struggle if we are going to perservere with the 17 selected last night (White and Manu are due back though).

I actually thought Hinchcliffe was superb when he came on, he made a real impact. Proctor was very good and made some damaging runs by running very good lines. Tolman was a work horse but imo does not make enough of an impact, we have johnson for that. Our backline was pathetic, isa is not up to first grade standards after watching those two games and chambers is suspect. As for our wingers, I don't have much faith in them anymore. Turner was solid but very dodgy in the air and quinn was just bad.

refereeing was pretty bad, but it was bad both ways. Cameron Smith was offside all night, gorrells knock on miss was a huge blunder. hodges was never offside for that intercept, which led to a try for the storm. so even tho the reffing was sh*t, it all evened out in the end. anyways, great close game, glad it finally went our way this time, look forward to our next match up and of course our eventual meeting in the 09 gf.
