He's sublimely talented, though can get a little repititious over the course of an album. His Zappaesque concept pieces are fun, and some of his newer stuff (Cucko Clocks etc) is just brilliant.

I seen this guys mug years ago when chinese democracy was apparently about to be released. I always thought he was trying to gee up slash.

8th fastest shredder in the world???? The songs I heard on chinese democracy were utter tripe, he has nothing on slash!

These guys could write songs, not just do runs (which is all buckethead does in that video, btw he definately has to be mates with mike muir, what a freak).

Still this buckethead would technically have it over slash so I stand corrected, evidence of songwriting ability though is heard on that chinese democracy tripe, therefore in that department, slash has it hands down over 3 piece feed!

I would give him the benefit of the doubt, although i havent heard any of his stuff, he has dozens of albums released. The chinese democracy stuff could be axl's wrong doing aswell.

I agree but then again I just d/l some buckethead songs and they are definately left field, its a wonder axl recruited him in the first place, he would be more at home in Mr Bungle!

Listening to "The Ballad" by testamament, now thats some great guitar playing!

Insanelly talented on the guitar, does some incredible things. He does have a heap of albums and ive only heard some d/l stuff. I never heard of him until axls band had him in it.

I would say he was chosen by axl as with all the ill feeling about the GNR breakup and Slash's high profile axl needed someone to make people forget about Slash and talk about the 'new' freak with a bucket on his head who can play like a machine.

However as has been said earlier Slash writes much better melodies in the band and even Buckethead got sick of axl and left.

Whoever said his stuff is out of left field is right on the money. D/l 'the ballad of buckethead'. Weird sh*t!
