N.Q and a number of other NRL clubs are locked in a battle to secure the prized signature of one of the region's brightest young prospects. Winger Trevor Bowman is one of four youngsters from N.Q who played in the Australian Schoolboys team but the only one of the four not to have pledged his future to the Cowboys.
Bowman, Ashley Alberts, Steven Goodhew and Luke Harlen were in the Australian team which defeated the Great Britain Rugby League Acadmey and the French Schoolboys recently.
They were four of 12Kirwan High School students who represented Qld this year.
The Cowboys are keen to gain Bowman's signature, but the youngster has attracted keen interest from other NRL clubs.
Bowman scored two tries on Saturday against Great Britain and two more yesterday against the French.
It is understood the Bulldogs have the inside running in the chase for Bowman's signature. The other clubs believed to be chasing him are the Storm and the Dragons. Trevor also plays 5/8, centre and fullback.
