WHILE the Bulldogs are locked in battle with Sonny Bill Williams, they continue to recruit well - with former Melbourne Storm winger Matt King the latest to be linked to the Canterbury club.
The Dogs have already sounded out Brisbane's Queensland Origin winger Darius Boyd - strongly tipped to be following coach Wayne Bennett to St George Illawarra in 2009.
But there was speculation last night King was keen on talking with the Bulldogs.
The former Test winger is unhappy at English Super League club Warrington, and he would be a welcome addition alongside Dragons utility Josh Morris at the Bulldogs next year.
"We're in the market now because we have to be," Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg said.
"2009 is around the corner, we're in great shape for 2009, this frees up some more money potentially down the track if Sonny doesn't want to be part of the club."

the bulldogs should know better than to tap up a player under contract anyway hes happy here so back off http://www.warrington-worldwide.co.uk/articles/3443/1/Matt-King-on-rugby-and-marriage/Page1.html

The Bulldogs won't be encouraging to jump on a midnight flight to Australia without a word to anyone whilst he's still under contract. However, if Matt King wants out of his contract, and Warrington agree to release him, then there's no reason why the Bulldogs can't offer him a contract.

If the Bulldogs have been linked to him, it's not because the Bulldogs have suddenly thought that they should go after Matt King who's currrently under contract in the UK, it's because Matt King's manager has approached the Bulldogs to see if they're interested.

Unlike the situation with SBW, it'll be up to Matt and Warrington to decide whether he leaves.

BOYD TO JOIN THE DRAGONS IN 2009

The St George Bank Dragons have today agreed to terms with Broncos centre Darius Boyd for three years, until the end of season 2011.
Boyd, 21, has played 68 games in the NRL after making his debut for the Brisbane Broncos against the Cowboys in Round 1 of the 2006 season.
The Mudgeeraba junior also made his debut for Queensland in this year’s State of Origin series and is excited about heading south to join the Dragons.
“To be joining the Dragons next year will be great for my career and to be playing for such a proud Club with so much history and tradition is something to which I’m looking forward.” Boyd said.
Dragons CEO Peter Doust is pleased to have Boyd joining the Club next year.
“Darius will join the Dragons at a very good stage of his career,” said Doust. “He was good enough to play State of Origin this year and is a quality NRL player that we are excited about having at the Dragons.”

Will you still be laughing when we snap up King? Next year is going to be great!

And currently the Cowboys still need to win a game to jump over us to avoid the spoon.
