Bulldogs new attitude disgraceful.

Now the bulldogs case has been dropped because of insufficient evidence, it seems they think their now in the clear and are now about to under go a process of promoting there innocence and spinning their story. This conclusion can be drawn from Malcomn Noad's comments tonight on the 7:30 report where he stated that the bulldogs players had been vindicated and that all he wanted them to do now was concentrate on playing football. It seems there will be no punishments for violations of the code of conduct that the bulldogs themselves said had been breached and no players will be disciplined. Its acceptable to believe that nothing criminal happened nor that a lot of other alleged incidents took place, however it doesn't seem right that absolutely nothing bad happened in Coffs Harbour and the bulldogs were completely well behaved the whole time there.

Some people who actually helped build the club have been alienated from it. It seemed the club was intent on completely cleaning itself out and was determined to find the truth during the investigation, or at least it appeared to be. But now the crowds are back, the team is winning the club has nothing more to worry about and is no real danger so they can promote themselves as squeaky clean without the same backlash as before. Malcomn Noad seems like the perfect kind of PR person to complete this role. The Mortimers and Hughes are gone, but some drug taker is still there and the players have escaped all penalties. They are 100% clean apparently. This is despite what their sacked player manager said, when he indicated players would be sacked. What a poor organisation, I feel sorry for all bulldogs supporters a decent people involved with the club. They might just win out in the end, because while nothing criminal has happened , something doesn't feel right and I don't think those old Canterbury members who lost out here will go away quietly. This could be about to get very nasty and ugly.

I didn't like a lot of what was said in the papers and the lies and hypocritical anti league propaganda against the bulldogs and the league and apparently the bulldogs are looking at taking legal action. However if they want to pursue this completely clean attitude then that the just adds weight to the claims of irresponsibility that were levelled against the club.

A bit premature. The news is only hours old. Noad has said they will be calling a board meeting to decide where to go next as far as disciplinary action is concerned. He's conceded in a radio interview on 2GB today that sexual activity and a breach of the code of conduct was made.

Steve Price also spoke out against the breach. He said that the code of conduct (bringing girls back) was actually one that was introduced by the players themselves, not the club. He's dirty on the player/s that did it.

Well thats promising, I hope they do make some tough decisions at the meeting. It's just from the way he acted tonight in the interviews I saw he showed no remorse. Perhaps remorse isn't the right word but he wasn't very diplomatic. He seemed completely on the offense and his comment that all he wanted to players to do for the rest of the year was concentrate on football seems like a supsect thing to say and perhaps shows the true agenda of the people running the club.

You sound surprised LeagueGuy. What did you expect?

Innocent until proven guilty.

I'm suprised because I thought if those ex players went surely some current players would cop something. Perhaps they still will but I dont' like what I'm hearing so far.

I can't see them sacrificing their premiership chances by getting rid of half their first grade side. They will cop a big fine and be put on notice.

Based on reports, only one player brought her back to the hotel, so that may be the only breach. I don't know for sure though.

Will the fine be from the club to its players or from the NRL? Or both?

It may not be limited to a fine. It may not even include a fine, but the club will discipline the player/s. From what I can tell, the NRL will disciplin the club, if their investigation provides grounds.

Could be both. However with no charges laid it will now come down to the actual breach of the code. I don't know what the penalty is for bringing a girl back to the hotel.

*EDIT - No speculation to the names please. - W*

"The victim, who is still so distraught that she has yet to fully complete her statement, says the assault was anal, oral and vaginal. Hotel staff heard her screams for help and she was helped to the reception area and then put in a cloakroom for privacy."

Ibeme just read this quote again, and then imagine if it was your sister that had the misfortune of meeting the footballers you are so keen to defend.

Rex, for the record, my girlfriend and my family have all kept an open mind on this. Tonight my girlfriend, who is a Swans fan, doesn't even follow league, was completely satisfied with the outcome.

She is able to understand that not everything is as it's reported.

Rex, this report contradicts yours.

Bulldog witnesses deny rape claim
By Steve Barrett
April 24, 2004
TWO independent witnesses appear to have contradicted claims by a 20-year-old woman that she was pack-raped by at least six Canterbury Bulldogs rugby league players at a Coffs Harbour resort in February.

The male witnesses, whose statements have been taken by police and lawyers for the Bulldogs, say they saw the woman at different times at the Pacific Bay Resort's lower swimming pool, but never with six players.

The Weekend Australian has spoken to both men, who confirmed they made similar statements to police and Bulldogs lawyers.

Both witnesses give a very different picture of what is alleged to have happened on Sunday, February 22, at the lower pool in the Pacific Bay resort, also the home camp of the Australian Wallabies.

The first witness said he was approached by a young woman and a fit-looking man who asked him for the quickest way to the beach.

But The Weekend Australian has been told the couple, instead of going to the beach, went swimming in one of the resort pools after the woman used a public shower while fully clothed.

The man saw the same couple again, swimming in the pool about 6.30am when the sun had come up.

He told investigators the couple appeared to be enjoying themselves and there was nothing unusual about the woman's manner.

Shortly after 6.30am, the second witness arrived and saw a man sitting on the pool's edge with a woman standing in the water facing him. The witness said he believed they were engaged in oral sex.

"She wasn't blowing bubbles into his belly button," he said. "I just slammed the gate hard to let them know someone was entering the pool.

"We get confronted with different things every day. Slamming the gate is just our way of dealing with things like this."

The details are sketchy, but The Weekend Australian has learnt that the alleged victim had later attempted to enter the room of two Bulldogs players but they told her they were rushing to get ready for a team training session at 8am, so they closed the door in her face. It was only some minutes after that she was found crying on the lawn just metres from the pool, with her clothing still wet.

It was then she had made an allegation to a house cleaner that she had been anally, orally and vaginally raped by six Bulldogs players at the lower pool area.

The Bulldogs' new chief executive, Malcolm Noad, said great damage had been done to the club's players and their families and the alleged victim.

"It has been a very tough time, and still is for the players and their families, especially those with children at school," he said.

"As far as the central allegations goes, and the investigation, I'll just wait until the DPP makes a decision before I comment specifically about that. Then the club will be in a clear position to take whatever action is appropriate
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,9372595%5E2702,00.html

And there was another report, which I can't track down, that said witnesses stated that they saw the girl showering fully clothed.

There was another report that said that she claimed she went to the hotel to return her friend's wallet, but it was later handed in from the nightclub.

You appear to be very selective over which reports you believe
