Great teams make for great players.

Matt could really create his own legacy within a brilliant Panthers team over many years to come.

Or, he could go & struggle with an average roster, develop bad habits & be just another first grader in a less than forgetful team.

If it was my career, it would be a no brainer. Surround yourself with the best & try to be the best.

I agree, a couple more season here and he’d get picked in origin and play in a few finals series and then walk into a million dollar contract after that if he decided to leave.

There's no or he's contracted to the dogs and that's where he'll be next year.

The decision was made well before last Christmas. No doubt he should have waited but its too late now.

If he wants to play 5/8 and he was told that he was always going to be behind Luai, he was right to move. Could have chosen a better club to move to, of course, but that's beside the point. Any idea whether the club did much to convince him that the center spot was his if he wanted it, and he would be next in line if one of the halves went down?

Too late now though.

Nope he had to take the shot, only so many halves spots going. He'll have a great career no matter how it goes at the Dogs

There is an under supply of good halves in this comp he would be in demand massively at any time. He could’ve waited till now and he’d have a bidding war on his hands there would be multiple clubs chasing him. South’s, sharks, cows would’ve been after him, broncos also. West’s signed Hastings fir debent money and the cows gave Townsend good money I mean clubs would be clearing the decks for burton if he was available for next season.

He f**ked up going to the dogs even if he was never staying here, he signed to early. He will go fine there but he will definitely be brought down by the lack of quality around him imo.

They trained with him as centre last year and in the off-season, but it wasn't known how well he'd go in first grade. If they'd known that they might not have needed to swap Laurie for Momirovski.

I haven't been all that impressed with the little I have seen of Momirovski, simply because he seems to be a massive ball hog. Hope Burton keeps his place for this season, goes out a winner.

Do you how contracts work? He'd have to do something like tank like Moses did. The Dogs have to chose to release him from his contract. He can't just say I want to stay and stay.

Even if say he he asked to be released is denied and doesn't train hard as protest who cares? He's still the best player in the Dogs team without trying.

He didn't fück up, going to the dogs was a no brainer, they have offered big cash, and he gets to play in the halves under trent barrett, who he can trust no to drop him, he is that good he'll make them relevant for a seasin ir two, not bottom feeders.

1st grade players want stability in contracts regardless of their own form, he will excel purely off these wooden spooners not giving him pressure, like what Flanagan had at the rorters, thet just need a good pack in front of him, it will come and if not panthers or other clubs will gladly take him back with open arms, penrith will do fine without him, for the next few years, expect a return home!

It isn't that big. 400K is unders for him. Could be a 700-800K half easily. He took it out of job security.

I don’t mind Moms. He’s been decent though he does have Paul Franze-like tendencies.

That being said, he’ll find it hard to get back into the starting side given Burton’s and Crichton’s current form.

Playing him at centre helps us but doesn't help him develop as an NRL half. So will take a while to get into it in an inferior team... may not see the best of him when Barrett is still coach

We definitely won't. I have a feeling he will have a bit of a struggle next season.
