buying a guitar?

I dunno what the forum rules are re advertising...
This is not really advertising ...just spreading some good news.
anyhow I have seen a few threads by people asking what sort of guitar to get.

I have come across the dude in Melbourne who sells them online.
FTR I don't know/work for or am him . :)

So if you are thinking about getting a guitar you may want to check him out.
I got a bass from him ...justfor home demos and songwriting ( he sells a few 6 strings as well ).
Now for the price $215.00 I cannot fault it.
That price included a gig bag, lead and postage...it is the bargain of the year.
The guitar itself is awesome.
The bass player in my band ( 20 odd years exp ) reckons he could play it live and nobody would be able to tell the difference between it and his top of the line 5 string bass.
It is solid and well weighted with a smooth easy neck action.

The 6 string guitars look awesome.
I think I might get one as a backup to my main strat.

So before you get ripped off in a guitar shop check him out.
Read the %100 feedback.

ripped of in a guitar shop? dude maybe you're not going to the right places ; just kidding, i know a few joints where i've gotten all my stuff at wholesale prices.

Also, you're better of building your guitar from scratch, my mate does it ( guy who introduced me to guitar) and his stuff is amazing at a fraction of the cost.

Guitar shop dudes are on par with car salesman IMO.
They can talk shyte with the best of them.
I can't stand most of them.

Building them is all well and good if you know what a guitar is.
I am talking about people who are maybe beginners or someone who needs a spare for gigging etc.

These guitars could be an option for a xmas gift for a teenager .

I started playing a couple of months ago. Bought an Epiphone Special II Deluxe for $400, got some extras and amp thrown in fairly cheap. Seems decent

Picked up an Epi LP with free delivery + hardcase for $700 last month.

Finally my Marshall has something to play with - Can't find a fault with it. My aim is to pickup a Gibson within the next few years and use this for the time being. But having played both, the difference is quite minimal.

My mate is selling his Gibson, fantastic condition, Dark blue....the bloke is broke, plus he already has another Gibson which is Black.

Nah the guy i go too is friend of the family, gives me crazy discounts, seriously i've picked up Boss pedals in the past from him ( flanger and Chourus ) for $50, there are some good guys out there, just look for the old timers, they seem quite legit unlike the younger dealers

Macron, pfft. Total merkins.

The amount they mark up their prices merely because it "comes from Sydney" is utter BS.

I'm all for the support local business cr*p, but if it costs me 10-30% more. They're good for accessories like straps, pics etc. But actual equipment, no f*cking way.

 I don't mind the guys at Macron, the owner is a huge Whitesnake fan, plus i brought a Jackson V from there a few years ago at a discounted price, however yeah in general they're a rip off big time.

Stuff on the coast is terribly dear, even car parts. Looked around for a panel beater this arvo it's like f**king petrol stations, they fix the prices, fmd!

I doubt it Ron.
If you are going through insurance that would be very hard to do.
The assessors will ( with great glee ) rip the shyte out of any over priced quote.

cashie maybe ...shop around with your quotes.

the squire affinity p bass aaron? There is a reason i didn't even consider Squier...

I wouldnt write squire off Mr Fahrenheit. Squire are like any music company, they make some diamonds and some stones. The quality isn't as consistant as Fender, Warwick etc, but if you play the bass before you buy it theres no reason you cant find a squire with a decent feel. Put on a badass bridge, drop in some fralin's or likewise, and some schaller tuners with a decent setup you have a really decent instrument for the money.

i dont care about basses. just guitars. and my affinity strat has great action. i wasnt advertising the affinity. cause without the US pickups, it was pretty crap. i was just stating that there are bargains to be had in music shops. the trick is to act confident, and shop around. you'd be surprised how far a store will go to beat a competitor

Yeah mate did that, i looked around settled for a price ( well my insurance provider did anyway).

Wasn't my fault, but tried to make it easier for the other person who was at fault, plus she had a cute bum :p
