f**k! I've always loved the name of that RU club, I thought that name was so classy, especially in comparison to Broncos, and I have been following London to an extent this year...This is bloody awesum!! YAY!

There's now a summary on LU front page:
http://www.leagueunlimited.com/article/articletemp.asp?num=9103

The announcement has come at a good time, with London a good chance of making the semis, they can ride on that publicity to help create their new identity in the public mind.

It will be a bit like how Leeds Rhino also run a rugby club (Tykes) through the same organisation. Difference being the Rhinos and League have a much bigger profile in Leeds (despite the Tykes winning the union comp, I think?).

In London it's the opposite, and the Harlequin name is associated with Union first (despite them being demoted). So the battle will now be for the (ex)Broncos to lift the profile of league there through this partnership - I wish them luck, and hope for the best of outcomes...

Its a part of a plan to eventually remove rugby league from history. The enemy is now within.

*edit - some fundamentaist* Islam + rugby union = same thing, to take over.

 Yeah I don't pretend to have followed the Union here. I just remember passing through Leeds and there was a banner on a building showing Tykes players holding some sort of cup, that's all...

I think most people up here (near Leeds) wouldn't even know how the Tykes did in the Union comp? We've got to hope that more people in London (and Harelequins fans) start to care how the league team is doing from now on.

I'd say that this bit was the clincher, given London's financial troubles earlier in the year...

London Broncos website said:
Finance

The rugby league club will be provided with a range of quality services at The Twickenham Stoop. These will include increased and more efficient ticketing and administration, commercial and merchandise activities.

Facilities will be provided to house the RL operation and our staff will work with and alongside our union colleagues. The provision of these significant resources will allow us to invest more in key areas of the club: marketing, development and first team.

On match day (our key time), a significant benefit to our business will be the retention of what our supporters spend. For example, we will retain every pound of income generated by match day sales including ticketing, bars, catering, merchandise, corporate hospitality, and all other match day revenue streams.

Never before have we been able to sign such a potentially lucrative arrangement. To quantify the commercial benefit of this partnership, we believe we will see an improvement of more than £250K a season compared to our current tenancy deal.

I knew they'd linked up, but I'd not heard anything about there name and logo changing.
All I'd heard is that from next season, the Broncos will play at the Quins Stadium.

Looks like not all the London fans are 100% happy, seems some are worried...

And with good reason. By all accounts, Harlequins were bad landlords when London were their tenants in the past.

I only wish I could disagree with SalfordReds but unfortunately, he's spot on. The enemy is now within.

Harlequins is not just any old posh RU club, it's the poshest and I'm afraid anybody who thinks they are in it for anything but the money they can screw of out RL to make up for lost revenue after relegation from the Zzzz Premiership is deluding themsleves.

Broncos club have gone into it with full energy so they must think the (financial) benefits outweigh the other considerations?

Their website reads like a giant sales pitch, trying to put the shiniest gloss on the move to convince... their fans, the league, themselves?
