I have seen some brilliant players at Penrith in my time. Alexander, Fittler, Girdler and Jennings made me get out of my seat. They were just exciting players who you never knew what they could do.

Cartwright was the same. A genius when he is on form. A genius. More skill than most halfbacks, better vision than most halves. Spiral passes to match Ricky Stuart and those offloads! Every time he got the ball in space, I was waiting for something good to happen, and when it did, it was usually exceptional. I know he had his flaws, but what a player he is and can still be.

I hope Brennan can get his head straight and his ankle holds up. I still want to see him succeed and be the best he can, even if it's not for us.
