The bloke is about to go on the open market...

if the Warriors owners are deadset serious about turning this club into something special...

they should be throwing everything they have at signing this bloke...

the best and by far the most influential player in the game.

im not saying he would consider coming the Warriors... as i think he's looking at going back to brisbane.

but they should be showing some serious intent...

I dont think there is any reason to not suggest the Warriors would have a serious go at him, in fact we probably have already tried talking to him but once we sign Tomkins there just isnt going to be any money left, plus I just cant see Smith coming here even if we could make him the highest paid player in the NRL.

Wouldn't say no to throwing something rather large at Smith. There's no way in the world I could see him coming here but would love for them to give it a go. If Bell was to sign Smith might just keep him his job.

Tomkins and Bukuya along with a decent back up half, he's done alright so far this season. Just needs another couple of depth signings.

Get him and groom him as our next coach.

But in all seriousness I could only see him going to somewhere in Queensland (if he was going to move at all), would be ideal for a new franchise up there, imagine starting off with smith.

I can't pinpoint it, but aside from last night I've felt someone who's a key point to the Storm is under performing. Cronk appears ok, Slater and Smith though I'm not sure they're performing as great as they did last year (still very good players). I wonder whether a lot of years of hard toil are beginning to have some impact.

I'd be hesitant. Aside from that, I don't think there's anyway Melbourne won't retain him. Whether that's by their previously preferred method (sign 3 contracts, 2 of which don't include the boat and the brown paper bag), or, sign three big players and pick up a pile of turd and then fool others that they're actually good players (Lowrie, Bleh etc).

Maybe Bellamy just knows how to get the best out of ordinary players, apart from the key positions Storm sides are always full of 'journeymen'.

You'd be crazy not to try and sign him

What comes with him is a free pass from the refs for forward passes out of dummy half, and a blind eye turned the filth he puts into most of his tackles
