54th minute, Goodwin takes a ball in goals and runs out for the quick tap on the 20. He takes the tap, but the ref tells him to go back and take it on the mark.



WTF is wrong with that?

No....the reason was it wasnt on the mark, which was wrong.
Dogs were screwed twice tonites with this quik 20m tap rule....another time with Barba ....also in the first half the Manly winger (Taufua??) coming back for a quik tap passed the ball to a team mate before the tap - I thought you forfeited a quick tap if you passed it, the player picking it up had to bring it back and tap it>???

Just had a rewind, DCE kicked inside the 20 and every Canterbury player was inside the 20 when he kicked it. However, 1 second after he takes the tap it zooms out and Reynolds is standing on the line.

Possible they called it back for that.

It should just be a quick tap anywhere on the line in the middle strip of the field (i.e. use the scrum lines as a guide) no closer than 20 metres to the sideline.
