International RL said:The question Kurt is
A) Will the NRL ever have the balls to leave 9?
B) Can we ever hope to get our true value while networks scramble between themselves to pay overs for AFL
C) How the hell is their deal worth so much, and ours so little when 4 out of the top 5 shows in Australia were RL.
It beggars belief...and only strengthens my view that RL needs to flush out all of the vested interests in the game. That being Telstra, News and Fox
If you are willing to switch codes simply because your team is merged then you were not a league fan to begin with.LeagueXIII said:Put the glasses down, as I will tell you now going by past history the NRL will do f*** a**.
So why don't we make it easier for AFL and get rid of more Sydney teams and make people even more pissed off with league that they will go and follow another sport. Remember Norths, I wonder what the 15,000 that use to watch them play at home are doing now?
Yes and when I went to my local club on weekdays to catch up with replays of NRL I found the big screens all on Fox 1 and had to sit there watching afl. I complained by email to Foxtel and didn't even receive a reply.ucantseeme said:Foxtel is the one the NRL should be holding to ransom. Look at what the top 100 rated Pay TV programs are every year since Pay TV started. NRL is the reason people have Pay TV subscriptions in the first place.
Even stranger is, Foxtel told the AFL they were axing the AFL channel because of lack of interest and it seemed Ch 7/10 would have to push games onto SBS to avoid a ratings massacre in NSW/QLD by being forced to show all games. Then lo and behold Fox Sports jumps in, pays a tonne of cash for the rights and gives the AFL prime position on Fox Sports 1 and pushes NRL onto the expansion Fox Sports 3.
I think the AFL must be blessed by the gods. They are looked after by the Illuminati and the Freemasons.
Those 2 states where most Australians live. Out of an Australian population of 21 million I think you will find 11 million live in NSW/QLD.kkingston said:Im not saying it rates higher in sydney but it rates alot higher than nrl in victoria, WA, SA, tas

Natalie's Daddy said:It is hard to rate well when there is no advertising and it is broadcast out of prime time.
Luc said:There are a couple of interesting issues here:
The first is that as digital TV expands, and the networks are able to broadcast multiple channels, it is possible that each network could broadcast the football code that they have bought into all markets on one channel, while broadcasting alternative programming on another.
