Can Tonga pass?

So Lote was the only back not to score a try yesterday all thanks to Tonga. I was pleased to hear a few people on the big sports breakfast acknowledge that it wasn't Lote's fault.

I was suprised Lote took the left hand side, I know he plays left for us but so does Morris for the Dragons. I thought Morris might have got the nod. Surely if they're gonna play Lote on the left, Lawrence should be inside him.

The only thing that should save Tonga's spot after that debacle will be Tate being unfit.

Good. Glad I'm not alone in seeing how poor Tonga was. There were at least 2 occasions Lote would of walked in untouched if he could catch and pass.

In Tonga's defence, he spent all season playing with nuffies who can't catch outside him, so it's no surprise that his natural instinct is to just run the ball.

And I don't think he's ever played with Tuqiri, so it could be a question of building combinations. Personally - and I know you Tigers fans don't want to hear this - I think we would have been better served with a left hand combo of Boyd and Tonga, because they've played together a number of times at State of Origin level.

If they are gonna run with Tonga then yes we probably would have been better served with Boyd. However IMO Lawrence should be in front of Tonga to start with and then you would have the Lawrence/Tuqiri comibation from club level.

Tonga is symptomatic of a culture of selfish play at the Cows.

Whether or not he has nuffies outside him he chooses not to pass even when in a great position to do so and maybe score or gain significant advancement of the pill.

Tonga and Thurston are great rep players but as key financial members of the Cowboys I would rather have neither. League is a team sport and these two seem to think they need to justify their price tag by doing everything themselves alot of the time, and failing.

Maybe a leader like Tate will help fix this throughout next year

I think the whole combination thing is a bit overstated. You don't need to be humping the guy to know how to pass a ball to him.

maybe he didnt pass it to Lote because Lote is completely out of his depth and does not deserve to be on the field??

Or, he's completely rubbish (form) and will most likely lose his spot to Lawrence for the final... sad as that is.

I posted on the cows forum during the year on some reasons why they cant score tries and i stated then that Tonga is a dreadful hog who not only fails to offload but he DOESNT even look. He should be a winger were all he has to do is run.

Lote is Lazy and often out of position defensively. Does not deserve to be the Australian winger. If you think he does deserve it then that shows what a clueless one eyed wanker you really are. Do you watch any other games outside of the tigers (not including Swans and Waratahs games)? I’m guessing not from your stupid comment about Lote. Say hi to him next time you’re giving him his after match rub down……
