Lote.......
61 mins into the Kiwi game and hes made 4 runs and 0 tackles........
Out of his depth and not looking to get involved.......

You fool, if they throw the ball to the right edge every play no wonder Lotte had little action, I think you find Bird and Lawrence had no plays either because they were also on the left edge. Farah comes on and all of sudden the ball goes both ways and we see some quality plays down the left edge. For the record I think Boyd is stiff not be in the team but as a winger Iam not sure he is any better than Lotte but one thing is for certain Lawrence is better than Tonga by a country mile

Got some news for you buddy, Lawrence and Lote will be there next week. Both played well.

Suck it up.

Australias left side is hampered in terms of cohesion by the presence of Gallen and to a lesser extent Bird.

Gallen seems to think he is still playing with the Nullas where he does everything himself for the most part. In every test he has hit balls intended for outside men and stifled attack. A fine player but needs reigning in

The real problem here, and has been in every game he's played, is Cronk. Everyone knows he's a reasonably conservative player, but bugger me watching him in the Green and Gold can be ordinary. Lawrence, and especially Lote weren't in the game until Farah got on and started to spark some attack down the left, even if he did have to rely on that kick. Carney looked nice on the right, but wasn't really a factor unless we were on the front foot.

Lote hasn't once blown anything looking mildly like a try and has made a few good down town runs with no decent inside support. He's stronger early in the rough sets than any other option which we'll need if the Kiwis bother to show up... but he should be doing it a bit more often.

Against PNG he blew two. One when he was in the backfield and dummied to wide open supports, thinking he'd steamroll the fullback and race away. He got hammered. The other was a crossfield kick he failed to win the leap for

Incorrect. As mentioned in the earlier post, his supports were too slow and the angle of the pass was cut off by a more enthusiastic defence. He didn't go the steam roll, he hit knees and got a quick play the ball. If I remember correctly, we scored in the right corner a play or two later. He could have kicked, and we'd probably have scored, but it was the mark of a classy footy player weighing that situation up.

You're a hard man on that second one and, I think, being more than a little disrespectful to the PNG defence. His opposite got his body between Lote and the ball and certainly wasn't letting go. It was one of numerous pieces of quality defence that should be given just as much respect as the thrashings Yere handed out on the other side of the field.

So Tuqiri fails to pass and is labelled a classy footy player. Tonga, however, is a hog and his performance is labelled a debacle.

Tuqiri hasn't justified the specialist myth by any stretch

Tuqiri didn't pass, because the ball would have gone to a defender. It's quite simple.

I, nor any one else watching, has any idea why Tonga didn't pass to his open winger on numerous occasions. Maybe he underestimated the opposition, or overestimated his current form. He probably would have scored those trys at the start of the season.

Judging your seeming lack of understanding of try scoring, I'm assuming you're an Illawarra supporter?

P.s. How much better do the Dragons wingers look playing off decent ball players and moves.

Tonga scored a couple of tries that day, I assume he thought he'd be a better chance than the bumbling has-been outside him? He was right on a couple of occasions. Classy player. I do recall later in that game, near the PNG line, he did looked left to pass and Tuqiri was nowhere to be found - egads, the specialist winger out of position!

And great trys they were too. Care to recall them for us? And please, contrast them with the situations he found himself in when failing to score. You still haven't found a legit time when Tuqiri has muffed a try.

We'd be talking about Lawrence not scoring either as well if we hadn't got our back up players in there to set things up for him.

So now that the final is done and dusted is anyone out there still trying to argue that Lote wasn’t out of his depth?
Above average 1st grade winger…….. Nothing at International level.

The level of criticism Tuqiri got for his selection was really out of line. He had a poor final, but the rest of the series he was fine, worked well out of dummy half and was dangerous down the touch line.

ill give you dangerous down the touch line...... When he gets going he is hard to stop.
As for worked hard at dummy half?? His dummy half runs are only a step above Beaus...
Continually caught out of position defensively and lazy....
