Can you add text tones to an iphone?

Hi, I recently got an iphone and today decided to download some new ringtones and text tones. Much to my disappointment there does not appear to be a way to add custom SMS tones to the iphone. You can add new ringtones easily.

Surely this is not the case? This is usually a simple feature on the most basic of phones. The default tones on the iphone are lame and I want some new ones dammit.

So.. A phone that I had 7 years ago I could put whatever i wanted as a text message tone, but i cant do it on a so called smart phone???? What the hell?? :crazy:
