Hey steve, how are you mate? just a few questions if you dont mind. Me and two mates are going to canada from june 28 til the end of July. We go to LA for 5 days first, then we go straight to Calgary for 2 weeks, whilst the stampede is on. After this we have hired a car for 2 weeks and are driving from Calgary to eventually end up at VAncouver where we fly home.

- How long does it take to drive from Calgary to Vancouver? We are going to hopefully go to places such as Banff, Lake Louise and Whistler, however we dont have that much of an idea where they are. Do you think we would have time to visit them all and spend a few days in Calgary? We have the car for 13 days.

- is there any chance of there being snow at this time, i know it is the middle of your summer but i would love to ski there a couple of days

- whats the deal with the stampede, we heard it was a big party every night, which is half the reason we are going?

- is there anywhere you would recommend us to go, we are open for ideas.

We will have a bit of local help over there, my mates cousin is from Calgary, and has just gone back there after living here for 3 years, so we are going to stay with him a few nights in Calgary. We are also going to Universal STudios and MAgic Mountain in the US.

Sorry to bother you mate, just after a few ideas.

Also, theres no SARS on the west coast is there? Or should i bring my face mask, haha

Hutch: I will try to find out some answers for you. I have never been to our western provinces, so I don't know the travel time, or some of the other things you asked. I don't think there is skiing in the summer, but could be wrong.

SARS has been mostly in Toronto, but I did just see on the TV of a case in Vancouver. I don't think it's widespread, and shouldn't affect travelling.

I'll try to find out more.

I live in Ontario, and haven't been to Alberta or BC. I've been to our east coast. Are you typical in not having been to WA, or do you think most Aussies have been to the other side of the country?

i dont think many aussies have been over to WA that live on the east coast. i am sure that a lot of people have, but the major holiday destination for people in victoria and new south wales is definately queensland. the gold coast would be the most popular place to travel over here. i live in sydney, and have been to most major places up the north coast of nsw. we go to queensland every year for a holiday. we staywith relo's on the gold coast, but i have been to brisbane, noosa, and hmailton island. i have never been to melbourne, and i have been to adelaide which i think is the most boring place on earth. would like to go to the northern territory, particularly ayers rock in the middle of australia.

In Canada the west coast is the most beautiful part, with the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific coast there. I just haven't been there yet, I'll have to go someday. I guess I should see all of Canada before I travel down under someday.

Hutch, I don't think I've seen you post about your trip at TFR. If you see this here, how was your trip to Canada?
