From Fan In The Stand

Hope everyone has had a great summer

Finally the Fan In The Stand has got his shit together and is fully focused on the task at hand and that task is Canterbury Cup Glory for season 2020. Make no mistake its going to be a hard slog. New faces, new coach new staff, but i reckon we got the squad and experiance in the squad to give the title a shake.

What a shit sandwich the 9s were. And a sloppy shit sandwich at that. PT Paul Turner was a standout in an otherwise forgettable weekend. 9 hour flight 36 minutes of footy then a 9 hour flight back, faaarrrrk that. Hope the boys gave the open bar a shake cos its a big year ahead.

As usual ill pop up the team lists each week and the games i can get to here in Sydney ill write up a match report. Below is our draw for season 2020. ist up a trip to Newcastle to face good ol Mace and the Knights. First team of the year.

https://www.warriors.kiwi/news/20202/03/10/youthful-line-up-for-season-opener/

The Vodafone Warriors have named no fewer than nine players from their 2019 Jersey Flegg squad plus 18-year-old fullback Rocco Berry for their 2020 Canterbury Cup season opener against the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday (12.40pm kick-off local times; 2.40pm NZT).

Berry was still at school playing First XV rugby union with St Pat’s Silverstream in Wellington last year and now lines up in his first full rugby league match.

His only previous experience came last month when he spent some time on the field in the Vodafone Warriors’ NRL trial against Melbourne in Palmerston North.

He’ll have plenty of youthful company on Saturday with centre Edward Kosi, winger Selestino Ravutaumada and standoff Paul Turner all out of under-20 football last year.

In the forwards hooker Temple Kalepo, second rower Tom Ale and loose forward Tyler Slade also played Jersey Flegg football last year as did interchange players Sean Mullany, Jyris Glamuzina and Isaiah Vagana.

New coach Justin Morgan is able to call on only three players with NRL experience – halfback Adam Keighran, centre Adam Pompey and second rower Leivaha Pulu.
