Capello quits

Redknapp won't change much, he can't call up Bale, Modric, vdV etc.

The problem with England has always been the same: the media (and fans) have an vastly inflated opinion of the quality of the squad.

He was already leaving after Euro 2012.

A bit harsh, but i suppose anyone who plays a Barry and Lampard midfield two is asking for it. ;-)

Pearce will take over till after the Euros.

Redknapp won't leave Spurs now. Why would he? This season is everything he has been building for. He can wait till after the Euros when he gets a fresh start on the national team.

He wanted to stay apparently, but felt he was backed into a corner by yet another FA f*ck up. Who strips any team of its captain without even telling the manager your going to do it? If your local team did that you'd consider quitting, never mind the national team.

The FA make decisions based on what they read in the papers the day before. Its time that changed, because they have to realise the media don't have the best interest of FA i mind.

They should all walk.

I agree with WireMan. It's disgraceful that the coach of all people wasn't even told about Tery losing the captaincy, or that he probably wouldn't get a say in the selection of the new captain.
If he was basically forced out of it, you can't say anything other than the FA are complete arrogant morons. Why would anyone think it would be a good thing not long out from the Euro's?

Well that implies they're better with Capello than without. Which is obviously not true. The man is an incompetent buffoon and I'm glad my 2nd favourite national team now doesn't have the worst national coach in the world.

Just proves how little you know about football.

What has he done recently.

The man managed Juventus during their cheating era then managed to win a title with the richest team on the planet at the time (Real). Big deal.

Then he's gone and done absolutely nothing in 5 years with an England team that while it may not have been world beaters had enough talent to do far better than it did while he was in charge.

I'm quietly confident England will do loads better than expected this year now that he's f**ked off.

Football wise, he managed 40 games and England played shit in what, half a dozen of them? In fact, his record is a very respectable 28-8-6.

Since the World Cup, he has handed debuts to the next generation of Johnson, Wilshere, Walker, Dawson, Jaglieka, Carroll and made guys like Hart a regular — rather than pander to the old guard of Beckham/Lampard/Gerrard.

Yes England got knocked out in the round of sixteen to an in-form Germany. Many other teams would have. But under Capello, England qualified for the World Cup and the Euros losing one game in the two campaigns. England were undefeated in 2011. And on that basis alone, he was relatively successful, considering the actual ability of the England team.

God help England under Arry Redknapp.

So now how England performs in QUALIFIERS is worth boasting about? Those games should be a given.

I'm not say he should have won Euros and WC but they should have done a lot better when it mattered.

Not sure why qualifiers should be a given? Europe has a great depth of good teams, so you usually get someone good in with you.

The fact that he did it so well is a good point for him.

We did alright in the last WC, we ran into a very good German team and the worst decision in the history of the game at that level.

Not sure why everyone suddenly thinks he should of done better, the same people who say he is bad are the same ones who say Spain, Germany, Holland, Argentina, Brazil are all better than England.
So what he did, is get knocked out by a better team. Well if that a sign of failure then you have to aim that at every team not Spain then, cause no one else won the WC.

Don't think people were expecting you to beat Germany but you should definitely have done better in the group stage instead of playing out scoreless draws against shit Nth African teams. If England had played better in the group, they'd have missed Germany entirely and gone deeper into the tournament.
