So, Beaver has given over the captaincy. And not a second early
I think this is for the best, because he looked like a different player today. The Mistakes he made were from half chances when he was forcing the issue. Menzies has not been getting into these positions since 2002, and the way he was running angles was a breath of fresh air. He looked eager! With a few more games, I'm sure he can get his old touch back.
I think the captaincy can be reduced to 4 possible people-
1) Chad Randall
2) Michael Monaghan
3) Andrew Walker
4) Ben Kennedy
Chad Randall would have to have the Inside running imho. He's a local and unless these 'training injuries' are something more, he's still the golden boy of the Brookvale offices.
I think Monas and Walker could do the job well too. The Captaincy might be an effective strategy in maintaining Monaghan long term, but I don't believe that's the way to go. If we sign Joe Williams, I imagine we'll be sending him off to pasture at the end of '05 and It I don't think it's the right idea to have a captain for 1 season.
I can't believe anyone would hint at BK as a potential captain. It's enough that refs hate us already but giving a bloke whose a certified nut on the field the job of adressing the referee is asking for trouble.
For mine, the choice should be between Monas and Randall.
