ORFORD NAMED CAPTAIN FOR 2007

The Manly Sea Eagles today named star halfback Matt Orford as the club's new captain for the 2007 NRL Premiership. Orford fills the biggest boots in the game by replacing retired skipper Ben Kennedy. Manly coach Des Hasler announced Orford as the club's new captain at an orientation presentation today at the club's training headquarters at the Sydney Academy of Sport at Narrabeen.

I think it had more to do with the Contract Issues tbh. Between round 18 2004 (When He assumed the Captaincy IIRC) and roun 13 2005 (When the Troubles Began) we went 15-6.

I reckon there's still some big Q's around The Ox's ticker, and I'm not sure burdening him with the captaincy will help his game when it comes to the pointy end of the season. Covnersely, it might be just the ticket! only time will tell.
