I am looking to buy a cd player and some speakers for my car in the next week or so

I found a deal on the JB HIFI website where you can get a Sony cd tuner and 2 speakers for $158.

So I was wondering, are Sony any good for this kind of stuff?

Or am I better off going with Pioneer where it would cost $209?

And whats the difference between a cd player and a cd tuner?

Cheers.

cd player doesnt have a radio.

Sony's are very good for a basic kit, try and get one with a line-in plug so you can play your ipod/mp3.

You get what you pay for at the end of the the day. Obviously it depends what you're after with regards to sound quality. The sound won't be fantastic, but obviously you won't be expecting that. Most important thing is to see which head unit you prefer, whether they have aux input, the functionality of it etc. Sony are probably the better option on the lower end scale, however I don't think you will find much difference.

http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/forums/index.php have a search through there, maybe even try the 2nd hand section. hope that helps!

Had a similar value JVC in a car and I think it was rated around 4x55 watts. Had some large speakers in the back and it was really good.

I found the thing with Sony was paying extra for the name.
