I agree with BrisVegas, you guys tucked all the way down in Sydney are being short sighted. The fact remains that Sydney and NSW to a certain extent take RL for granted, you don't support it enough as it is. Re-locate a team there.

There a far far more deserving places to be given franchises than CC, a South Western QLD team (Ipswich, Gatton, Toowoomba), Perth, Sunshine Coast, Central QLD, Wellington, PNG all are more deserved and better faired than the CC.

Open your eyes, the world does not end 100km north of Sydney, there are bigger and better things to attend to.

would be interested to know the CC people on here

who would abandon their current team and support the CC Bears/Sharks/Gypsies whoever

my money is on under 20%.

I'm already a Sharks fan and no chance of changing to support a CC team unless of course it was the Sharks(which wont happen).
I'd go to games though.

exactly.

no point in a CC team.

the CC people aren't proud enough of being from there

to dump their current team and support the locals.

hell, I wouldnt be proud to be from there either.

the CC is a dumping ground for western sydney refugees, retirees and assorted welfare recipients... hardly a proud area in and of itself.

Some very good posts here.
The problem is however is that Gallop, the current NRL CEO and News Ltd lawyer hates the Bears with a passion. He was involved up to his eye balls the whole scenario about having an administrator appointed to the Bears and then having a merged entity called the Eagles up there..any fool a with a slight grasp of league could have told you it would fail, any fool except Gallop that is.
There was some very dodgy conduct involved with the demise of the Bears, and it involved parties from the Bears, the News/NRL, Manly and Ferrier Hodgson, the administrators. There are a number of league officials, current anf former who would prefer this conduct not be made public for obvious reasons.
The Bears would make a strong franchise, however that would threaten some current clubs who will oppose them for their own reasons.
Why the league should allow soccer and to lesser extent Rugby Union a leg up in this area is very odd..not the conduct of impartial or professional sports administrators.

so how come the crowds were so good to begin with.

the same argument couldve been said about gold coast and theyve got loads of fans.

with lots of young families moving in and the population growing well, its a must for the game

NSWRL evolved into the nrl.

have a think about what that means

if easts were the weakest sydney club would you agree they move?

novelty.

no, the GC is larger and has a strong identity. it also isn't within an hour of 10 teams.

I want the Bears back too. I just dont think the CC is the place for a team. Everyone there already has their team. having 100k people have a soft spot for you, and 10k actual fans who live 40mins away, isnt really a picture of sustainability.

with the population growing in CC it will demand their own team sooner or later.

if the area isnt important to the nrl, why do they have an $8 million relocation allowance for a club to move there.

clearly its important. if no sydney club moves then eventually the nrl will have to add a new team. if they are going to add a new team in it may as well be the bears

Maybe they are more interested in seeing a Sydney team move out than a team in CC? Ideally I would like to see the *$8mill upped to $20mill and be for one of a number of areas a team could move to.

Whether $8 or $12 million or more, who is going to leave?

*The Sharks would have to be in a big big hole, they are the "shire".
*Easts are Sydney City, they may have 37 supporters, but their marketing is all about Sydney, leaving to play somewhere that's not Sydney is not going to happen, unless they too are financially screwed [Very unlikely, as its not Cronulla and their 'It must be a leap year, time for administration"].
*Saints may end up on the south coast, not CC.
*Penrith, Parra never.
*Souths, not since the Rusty/Hac thing
*Manly, we need to hope they continue to have great financial sucess and that they pour money into the brookie sh*tpile, and their fundies draw the line at going to "eadieland"
*The Dogs are SW Sydney.
*The Wests Tigers are the Wests Tigers, a stand alone Balmain may have had to eventually, but the 'franchise direction' would be fatally damaged it the WT's went north to the CC. That and the AFL push into western Sydney means the NRL wants them there and strong- with Parra, Penrith and the Dog's draining AFL coin for decades.

deserving and financially capable [perth, wellington, 2nd bris yes, the rest aren't in the ballpark]. The central coast is prime league territory the fastest growing territory WITHOUT nrl representation.

no need for any to move out to gosford leaving the bears as the only option
i am from the central coast (now stuck in canbera though).. a new team made from scracth with new colours and name would have the best chance of surviving on the central coast..

re the Bears... central coast folk generall have no afiliation with sydney at all.

All home games would have to be in gosford..

the bear's time has come and gone.
