Central Coast Bears Franchise.

Oh I see, with NSW having 11 teams already I guess QLD should take a back seat after getting its 3rd team, forget the number of juniors participating, the corporate oppurtunities, the huge regions without a league team.

If anything Sunshine Coast and SW QLD will get picking over CC. If CC was ever going to happen, it would have been done already.

thats your opinion and i dont agree with it.

its a crucial market, and the number of teams in nsw is irrelevant IF they are performing well off the field and solid financially.

with land getting scarcer in sydney, places like the central coast and wollongong will have large increases in population as young families will live there and commute to sydney

having said that, ive got no problems with more queensland teams either, at least one.

if youd read my post i suggesed 2018 CC and a 4th queensland team be admitted.

are you saying it should be 2 queensland teams in 2018 and miss out central coast all together?

No it is not my opinion. There are more juniors in the Sunshine Coast then there are on the Central Coast.

There population of the Sunshine Coast is DOUBLE the amount on the Central Coast.

The thing is it is relevant, only 2-3 NSW teams are performing well financially, all the others are struggling.

i meant its your opinion as to who should get in when.

just to clarify, you would admit 2 more queensland teams over central coast.

2 queensland teams at the same time is a bit much?

and i think youll be surprised re the sydney clubs performance over the next 10 yrs

I am happy to be proven wrong if the Sydney clubs get their act together.

I think 2 QLD teams 200km apart isn't a bit much. QLDers love league more than people in NSW and tend to have more pride in their local community than any Sydney-sider I have ever met.

You think the Titans are a one off, there are 2-3 more communities in QLD that could easily match the level of support and enthusiasm as the Titans did.

i dont think the titans are a one off.

i was very happy in 1995 with 4 Queensland nrl teams, ill be happy when they get that or more.

the more top level teams in australia the better as long as finances and playing standards are OK.

another queensland team by 2018 will have given the titans 10 yrs to get established so another team in then will be needed.

any after that wouldnt bother me one bit, especially with the population growing as it is

Brycey, please explain where you think SW QLD will have a team, afford a team, base a team. Toowoomba don't even have anymore/couldn't afford a QLD cup team!

The NRL have an agenda and their arms and legs have string attached, with Murdoch pulling the strings. I say its all to do with an eventual merger of both rugby codes. think what you like but it will eventually happen bit by bit.

If that is the case, They will lose me, I'll follow soccer.

Accountants who think that 1 =1 =2 fail to take into account the emotional imput into the sport from spectators take that away and I'll guarantee you will lose half your audience. However they probably couldn't care as long as you are an armchair 'fan' and buy Fox.

Ill through in a twist... please dont flame me for this, it is just an idea with no evidence of any of this happening...

2012 - Manly and Roosters merge to make a super team, playing out of a new 47K stadium from 2013 situated in Mosman or Neutral Bay area. could be be the biggest corporate backed football team of any code

2012 - WA Reds enter comp

2013 - St Geo Illa play soley out of Wollongong

2014 - Balmain Tigers & Bulldogs merge - play out of ANZ.

2014 - Wests Magpies become Penrith feeder club - being used as the NSW cup team along with Windsor

2014 - Central Coast Bears enter comp

2015 - Souths & Sydney FC to play out of a new 54K mega stadium

2015 - Cronulla move to Adelaide

2018 - Wellington Orcas enter comp

2018 - Toowoomba Clidsdales enter comp

North Shore Roosters (Manly/Roosters)
South Sydney Rabbitohs
Western Bulldogs (Tigers/BUlldogs)- ANZ Stadium
Parramatta Eels
Penrith Panthers
Illawarra Dragons
Central Coast Bears
Newcastle Knights
Brisbane Broncos
Toowoomba Clidsdales
Gold Coast Titans
Nth Qld Cowboys
Melbourne Storm
Canberra Raiders
WA Reds
Adelaide Sharks
Wellington Orcas
Auckland Warriors

The Manly/Roosters merger is interesting, Id like to hear more on this, how it would work, what areas would it cover, etc, etc.

The Dragons playing out of Wollongong is a nice idea, but the Illawarra Leagues club is struggling very badly, but yet again, now that the corrupt council is out, it could change the entire community.

Bulldogs and Tigers merge? Wests becoming Panthers feeder club?At the moment, with AFL coming, we need the League in the west to be as strong as ever. Merging these two would only weaken it.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE, MERGERS AND RELOCATIONS FOR TEAMS IN WEST SYDNEY (PANTHERS, TIGERS, BULLDOGS AND EELS) ARE OFF LIMITS.

The Souths and Sydney FC stadium probably wont happen, but if it dose, its a great idea.

Cronulla to Adelaide, Iv heard this before and the only 2 argument I have heard for it is low fan and junior base. What are the member numbers and junior numbers for the Sharks?

Overall, its a nice idea, but the League is not currently in a situation where such MASS changes can be handled let alone accepted. Its basically reinventing about 7 clubs over 10 years, way way to much.

I dont care, I along with many of my friends and thousands of people in NSW, Qld, PNG, NZ, UK, France, etc, prefer league. Aslong as they make an egg shaped ball and a flat field, we will stick 2 giant H's in the ground and play League.

Nothing can kill league, it can only be silenced, and numerous people have been trying to do that for over 100 years.

The City of Gosford itself has only about 150k people. I know people assosictae Wyong with CC, but IMO (and it is only my opinion) Wyong has more ties with Lake Macquarie.

Really?

I mean, Tuggerah feels pretty Central Coast to me, and it's in the heart of Wyong.

The Sunshine Coast isn't exactly famous for having a single identity. If anything, it's even more divided than the Central Coast, though I'm sure the new Council will work to give it some identity.

t-ba, I'm clutching at straws at the moment...I thought it was obvious lol.

I'm not too sure about the division thing in SC, maybe a few people who live there could fill you in. From the 4-5 people I know that live there ranging from Noosa to Maroochydore to Caloundra I think they take pride in the SC, it really is a lovely place to live. And I think thats the main reason people are proud of the entity, its such a beautiful location without the size and seediness of GC.

Ask people from Noosa about how they feel having to merge with the peasants down the road.

Which part of Noosa? Noosa is a big place, I'm sure if went to a certain area in any town you'd get the same sobbish response.

Birchgrove Oval to Sydney Cricket Ground Ball RelayDate: Sunday 20th April 2008Time: 10:30 a.m.Location: Birchgrove Oval, Birchgrove, Sydney, NSW

At 100 years, 2 months and 12 days old the North Sydney Club finds itself on top of the table and undefeated and about to face currently it’s greatest rival – the Newtown Jets.

On Saturday the 19th of April the Bears will face the Jets in the first leg of the Frank Hyde Shield. In the weekend of Rugby Leagues’ Heritage round this will be a fitting tribute to 2 of Australia’s oldest sporting institutions.

The North Sydney Harold Matthews and SG Ball teams will also be playing on the day against Norths other great rivals - Manly, commencing at 1.20pm and 2.45pm respectively. The main game V Newtown will be preceded at 4:30 p.m. by a tribute to the late & great Frank Hyde.

Also in the spirit of the Leagues’ Heritage Round the Bears NSW Cup team will play in a replica strip of the jersey worn by the North Sydney Club in the 1943 Grand Final. Contested between the Newtown and Norths this was the Frank Hyde lead North Sydney side that attracted record crowds everywhere it played. These jerseys will then be auctioned off to the fans during the remaining season.

This event will also be a reunion of sorts with many ex first grade Bears expected to attend and all are invited back to the North Sydney Bowling Club for post game briefing following the conclusion of the NSW Cup.

The North Sydney Club is also encouraging all fan who have not yet done so to join as members and help support the Club in this it’s Centenary Year. Go HERE for more details.

The following day sees fellow foundation Clubs Western Suburbs and Balmain face off at Historic Birchgrove Oval. This will be followed by a ball relay from Birchgrove to the SCG to celebrate 100 years since the first ever Australian Rugby League match held between South Sydney and North Sydney. Places in this relay are open to North Sydney Fans and anyone interested are invited to email the Club with their details to info@northsydneybears.com.au. Fans selected for the North Sydney leg of the relay will need to be at Birchgrove Oval by 10:30 am and will be completed by 12:30 pm. Free entry and transport will be available to the SCG in time for the Souths V Wests Tigers match taking place that afternoon.

The history of the North Sydney Club has seen many trials and tribulations both on and off the field and Saturday’s event is dedicated to the many people that have ensured the Club has survived to be undefeated in 2008. But is this all the Bears should be content with? Many believe in an even bigger future for the Club. And so we simply say –

Coming attraction – Bears back in the NRL
