I am at a loss to understand how they would make more money out of it. You would have to see a sh*tload of jerseys to make it worthwhile, and TBH the team is the important factor in deciding to buy a jersey.
Idiot. That's precisely what they're doing. Personalised numbers would be a new revenue stream.Hey CEO's leave the f**king numbers the way the are and worry about the following;
Building Crowds
Building Members
Player Behaviour
Game Day Experience
Food Prices and grounds
New Revenue Streams

If the AFL can sell jerseys with personalised numbers and have them much cheaper than an NRL jersey without numbers., we should be able to find a way without anyone going broke. Please correct me if I'm showing my age but don't you buy the jerseys without the numbers? This was the case with the last jersey I bought 3 years ago. You then put the numbers on later (if you so desire) depending on who is your favourite player or your position. Right? And each number right now and in the future will be a combination of 0-9.
So how do they keep track of this? Are they going to keep track of the individual numbers that are sold to put on blank jerseys and then forward the money to the players?:crazy::crazy:
No. Each jersey of each player will come with the number already on it. This will dramatically increase production costs and so cost to the consumer.
The only winners in this will be jersey manufacturers.
I'm all for keeping the rep games traditional.
But for clubs bring this on. Watch the jersey sales grow, and give a cut of the profit to the players as way of upping their salary.
Hayne sells 10k jerseys, gets $10 from each of them, bam there's an extra 100k for one of our showpiece stars.
Same with Benji, Thurston, Inglis, Slater etc.

Just checking now a Rabbitohs 2011 jersey costs $170. A Swans jersey costs $110 dollars. In case you're too dumb to realise, sleeves don't cost $60 to make.We could do what AFL do to make theirs cheaper.
Like sell them without f*cking sleeves you stupid f*cking clueless clown!!!!!!!!
With the AFL you pay an extra $10 to get whatever number you like.I'm pretty sure you buy a blank tank top and put a number on it after that. If you didn't you would be a prize goose.
They do if the vest costs $110 :roll:Just checking now a Rabbitohs 2011 jersey costs $170. A Swans jersey costs $110 dollars. In case you're too dumb to realise, sleeves don't cost $60 to make.
We could do the same without your stupid "let the players pick" idea. With the AFL you pay an extra $10 to get whatever number you like.
We could do the same.
Those that want it obviously cannot tell the difference between players. I guess for them there is a big chance of mistaking Dave Taylor for Chris Sandow, Fiu Fiu Moi Moi for Luke Burt and Sam Thaiday for Peter Wallace.
Here's a hint. Buy a copy of Big League - they have a key in each edition cleverly listing the names of players wearing each numbered jersey. You open it up to the Brisbane team list, look at No. 6, and then discover that it's Darren Lockyer. Difficult I know -which is why AFL dont use that system - but by completing high school it is reckoned that most people can work it out. IN fact, even Queensland have been using the system successfully for decades!
Failing that, ask your carer for help.
