Well, why are we not surprised? Channel 9 will not be showing the World Club Challenge at this stage. Even though Fox are showing it, they aren't really coming to the party by showing it delayed at noon on FoxSports 2. Shame Shame Shame on you Channel 9.

Well, I'm posting this AGAIN here, because I am pissed right off.
And it's worth saying it twice.

Do you mean that we won't be having our all night Panthers session,
and watching the game live?

Bloody Channel 9............morons..........give the damn contract to anyone else.

It doesn't matter who, no-one could possibly do a worse job of televising and
promoting the game than they do. (OR DON'T).

How can you get any atmosphere watching it at lunchtime.........hours after the event?

Whoever is in charge of the programming of 9's sport should sacked immediately.
The twit doesn't have a bloody clue.

Bloody hell, why stop it this year! I remember watching the Knights and Roosters games on Channel 9... thank God Foxtel is showing it, because I am going to be at Panthers.

Now this is a disgrace...

Probably because it clashes with some home shopping or religious programming that they usually put on at that hour...

I guess our only shred of hope is that whoever Rhino spoke to is a no-nothing idiot.
and they got it wrong.

I might ring up tomorrow too, and see if I get told the same thing.

Please do, MP, don't mind being told that I was wrong about this!

Anyhow, I made reference to no broadcast on the PI site under the WCC news thread and RW said he would see whether the club might be able to take a direct telecast of the game from England (technical things), should no one in Australia take up the broadcast rights but he couldn't promise anything. Let's hope that somehow, we are able to see the game either though Ch 9 or with a direct telecast. Fingers crossed that something is done for us supporters.

Hi all,

I just spoke to a girl called Lee, in the sports programming department, and I told her that a friend of mine had been told that they had no intentions of televising the WCC, and she went away and asked someone the question (I'm not sure who she asked), and then came back and told me that they were definitely intending to televise it (barring any other so-called major event arising that would take precedence over it), but that it hadn't been officially scheduled yet because they schedule their events no more than 2 weeks before the actual event.

She said that she only has official schedules for up to January 31st, and that if I rang back in about a week and a half, she could tell me what the schedule would be for the next couple of weeks.

So........if we are to believe her............there is still hope.
Fingers crossed people... [-o< [-o< [-o<

here's my tip guys for confirmation on whether nine will or won't be showing the wcc. Watch the 7's telecast on sunday night this weekend. Presumably at the end of it they will promote their telecasting of the upcoming rugby league season including the wcc.

Well this is certainly more hopeful. Thanks, MP. I might still ring WIN though and see if they intend televising the game. We did get the Kangaroo tests live, but you never know :)

Guys and Gals this is the very same thing that happened to us last year, when we rang and inquired about it. We got the same answer, so I wouldn't be paniciking. They'll show it.

By the way you have to keep the trophy here.

When you called them you should have asked why they are only showing a 1hr highlights of the sevens. Especially after the IRLB went to so much trouble to host the tournament on a weekend that would make it available for Channel 9 to broadcat it live..

No he said to be watching the Sevens on Nine at the end of the telecast on Sunday night. It is then that they might state their intention of televising the WCC, as they use it as an opportunity to tell what they will be showing in the near future on the Wide World of Sports.

Yep, definitely need one of these...

They are going all out for it. That's why they are in trouble with Colin Love.

If either Girds or Preston or both can't play, it will make the job more difficult,
but they will still give it all they've got and not be left wondering if they could
have tried harder.

But I still think they can do it either way, because I'm sure they want it badly
enough, and that's half the battle right there.

Don't hold your breath. We are talking about the pathetic Channel Nine. Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed, just angry and bitter.
