Leeds v St Helens

How great that these two meet at the earliest opportunity, a shame they can't both lose.

Good also to see that there's another 4 games that are SL vs SL, meaning at least 7 non-SL sides (and potentially up to 11) will make it through to the next round.

Fifth round draw to take place at RAF base

The draw for the fifth round of Carnegie Challenge Cup will take place on Tuesday 7th April at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire with the balls for the draw being flown into the base by a Hawk aircraft.

It will go ahead at 2.30pm and special package on the event will be broadcast on the BBC’s regional news programme Look North later that evening.

An independent representative of the Press Association will also be present and will electronically “file” the outcome of the draw to all major news organisations immediately after it has been made.

Air-Vice Marshall Chris Davison, the Director of the RAF Sports Board will draw the home balls and the away balls will be drawn by former Leeds Rhinos, Great Britain and Ireland star Barrie McDermott.

Group Captain Dean Andrew - Chairman of both the RAF Rugby League and the Combined Services Rugby League - will be in attendance as will Warrant Officer Damian Clayton, MBE – the Secretary of RAF Rugby League.

Yorkshire born Clayton established the first ever RAF Rugby League team whilst he was based at RAF Leeming in 1994 and the staging of the draw at the base has come about via the close links between the RFL and the Combined Services Rugby League.

The draw itself will take place in a hangar which houses the well known Hawk aircraft.

Chairman of both the RAF Rugby League and the Combined Services Rugby League Group Captain Dean Andrew commented, “It's massively appropriate for draw to be held at Leeming, the home of the Hawk and the joint services training unit.

"The Combined Services had their own cup success last year when Great Britain won the World Cup in Australia so it's fitting that the military is hosting the draw for the fifth round of the prestigious Carnegie Challenge Cup competition."

Did Hull field a second string team???

Nah... but thats teh bewty of the Challenge cup, its much more unpredictable.

The Barrow v Wigan game almost pulled the upset of the last 20 years. Barrow were right in there. Some of the photos I have seen on other forums of a packed Craven Park are amazing. They got a capacity 6275 for the game. Barrow were right in it till the end, and there wre calls that a couple of the barrow tries that were disalowed should have been given and the second last Wigan try should not have been for a knock on. If that was the case then it would have been the shock of the year.

Still be interesting to see what the match ups will be in tomorrow nights draw.
