Catch the odd Co-operative Championship games on Premier Sports and noticed the crowds are not very good and wonder why and what are the clubs doing trying to get people into the non SL grounds.

What were you expecting, the crowds to be as good as Super League? :?

Most of the teams are based in very small towns with massive local competition from much bigger clubs, of course the crowds aren't that good.

But the grounds are near empty mate and that doesn't look good.

How are they not very good?

They are about on par with Australia's second tier competition (Qld Cup) and i imagine would be better than NZ's second tier competition.

When you get away from the main competitions in the UK, ie Super league and Premier League crowds are very small. In regards to the Championship, before Super League those clubs such as Batley would have had average gates of around four thousand.
Cricket is in an even worse position with practically no one watching.

Maybe true but when you love at the French and English 2 division Rugby Union crowds they are pretty good.
