Remember he tested the market last year? Wonder how much he was worth.

He‘s actually a good buy as Tuaupiki or Williame might have opportunities to leave if anything opens up and he can be a super utility for fullback (plays similar to CNK), halves, hooker or just plug in for defense anywhere.

The way we went this year he would have being picked ahead of Volkman for the 3-game streak against top teams and we would have had Walker coming off the bench. Also he’s quite injury prone so I doubt we paid more than basics.

Volkman’s bombs and grubbers are first class, develop his d this year, play half the games next year including some top teams when SJ is injured/tired, take over the No.7 spot in 2025 when SJ either retires or plays a depth+coach role

Or he can go and guide a bottom team, get stressed out and probably get to the same destination or worse in 2025/2026.

Confirms we are recruiting a defensive team.

RTS and CHT being the latest high off the ball workers.

Great signing imo he gives them a back utility that tackles like a foward and covers all injury or send off contingencies in the backline thus ensuring 12 Warriors vs 13 is not an automatic loss scenario.

Defenders are the only type of player that can be bought affordably in the NRL cap system by the Warriors.

Seems Webster is using defenders who have some ball playing ability rather than the more expensive tackle busting side stepping stars of the Nrl.

I like Volkman. Think he has the makings of a top class 7. None of our other halves really fit that mold
How would you rank Volkman next to someone like Mason Lino? A gun in the lower grades, had a few good games in first grade but ultimately ended up in Super League. Similar size, similar kicking game.

Much better prospect, imo. The proof to me is how much better the reggies side seems to be when he's at 7. Seems to have an excellent footy brain and knows how to organize and play structure.

And when he goes full gas he reminds me of Stacey :p

As long as he defends better than Stacey did - I remember we used to hide him on the flanks and he’s still occasionally get beasted by blokes like Adam McDougal- not sure if you could really get away with that in the modern game!
