Home and Away star charged with cocaine possession
December 15, 2009 - 6:20PM

Home and Away star Todd Lasance has been charged with possessing cocaine.

The 24-year-old actor, who recently announced he was quitting Seven's long-running soapie, was arrested in Sydney's Kings Cross on the weekend, the network reported on Monday.

Lasance's manager David Sheridan said he wouldn't be making further comment on the issue.

"It's a legal matter and Todd is co-operating with authorities," Sheridan told AAP.

Lasance won this year's Silver Logie for Most Popular Actor.

He plays Aden Jefferies on the show, but finished shooting his final scenes on Friday and is set to try his luck in Hollywood.

"Failure is not an option," he said at the time.

"I'm willing to put in 20 years over there if I have to because this is what I want to do."

Home and Away cocaine star Todd Lasance sentenced

FORMER Home and Away star Todd Lasance's dream of moving to Hollywood is on ice for a year after he was placed on a good behaviour bond for cocaine possession.

The 24-year-old logie winner who played Aden Jeffries on the soap was busted with 0.36 of a gram of the drug at last year's Home and Away Christmas party on December 12.

The star had filmed his last episode of the series the day before and was celebrating at Kings Cross nightclub Kit and Kaboodle when police saw him acting suspiciously outside the toilets.

He was marched from the club and charged with possession of a prohibited drug.

In the Downing Centre Local Court, Lasance's lawyer, Chris Ford, said his client had "a bright future on the international stage" and a conviction would severely hinder his prospects overseas.

"He is a young man who is deserving of another chance," he said.

However the presiding magistrate said he wasn't interested in what Lasance wanted.

"It's all about you, isn't it?" the magistrate said to the young heart-throb.

"You're in the entertainment industry but I don't feel entertained by your conduct."

The magistrate said he was "tempted to make an example" of Lasance and wasn't interested in US immigration controls.

However, Lasance was given a semi-reprieve in the form of a Section 10 bond for 12 months.

This means the offence is proved but Lasance will not have a criminal record if he complies with a good behaviour bond for 12 months.
