Trent Barrett and PJ Marsh have been both charged by the NRL match review committee following a controversial incident at Parramatta Stadium on Friday night.

Marsh has been charged with a grade two careless high tackle charge for his high challenge on Barrett after the St George Illawarra captain had put in a clearing kick during a fiery clash with Parramatta.

Barrett must answer to a grade two striking charge for throwing a couple of punches at Marsh in retaliation. Marsh will escape suspension with an early guilty plea but Barrett will miss Sunday's match against Manly at Brookvale Oval if he does the same.

Cronulla prop Jason Stevens, Canberra hooker Simon Woolford and Sydney Roosters backrower Michael Crocker have been charged with dangerous throws. Even with an early guilty plea, Raiders skipper Woolford will miss six matches for his grade two offence.

Stevens and Crocker will each cop two-match bans if they submit early guilty pleas.

just a normal charge down that happens in every game imo

i think stevens is a 40/60 chance of getting off and should therefor fight it

PJ should fight that to the hilt.
Bloddy disgraceful charge.
Those two where at each other all game, the difference was Barrett lost his cool .
PJ was laughing at him at one stage.

Barrett went on like a f**kwit all night , there was nothing in the tackle at all and he f**king well knows it.

stevens should contest it. the player tackeled twisted himself to offload putting himself in a dangeruos position. nothing wrong with the tackle.

If PJ's charge down is judiciary worthy then why wasn't he penalised in the game therefore making the try null & void. The NRL can't have it both ways IMO!

That said I think he should fight it to, the contact has directed at the ball and torso. Any contact with the head was incidental and a graze at best. The whole thing was made worse by Barrett's reaction. If Glass Chin hadn't reacted and if it had happened on a non-channel nine game there is NO WAY that PJ would have a mid week appointment.

They said as much on ABC radio yesterday afternoon. It's well worth fighting this one as we need every decent player on deck as we jockey for position going into the semis.

Barret is a dog. Who the hell would hit anyone from behind in a game of footy? It happend to me once(getting hit from behind on footy field) and i still to this day have never forgiven the maggot. Im not a sook or hold grudges but I tell ya there is nothing lower then hitting someone when they are not ready for it. Ive had many biffs on the footy field and I can sit down and have a beer with 99.9% of the blokes ive squared of with. Im a firm believer of what happens on the field stays on the field, but in scenarios like that Barret deserves more then one week.

Its a total joke at the highest order and it is'nt setting the right example for guys playing park footy most importantly the kids.

Dog act by a dog player...

No wonder there is rumours going around that Stevo might play again next year, he's only having half a year this year!

If stevo is going around next year, due to all suspensions, woolford's career in canberra will go past 2010, he is out for another 6, if for some reason the raiders relesase him, SHARKS BOARD DO NOT SIGN HIM, he is damaged goods
