The Proteas will play the Canterbury Wizards in a charity match at the Hagely Oval in Christchurch, as part of fundraising efforts for the earthquake stricken city on the eve of the anniversary of the devastating earthquake that demolished the city. Proceeds from the match will be donated towards the costs of re-building cricket facilities in the city, and will include the sold-out ticket sales and the players’ autographed playing shirts which will go up for auction.

It's a T20 match and I have managed not to watch a single T20 match so far this year, but I have to make exception for my Proteas. Unfortunately this tour consists of 1 T20 tour match and 3 T20Is. 3 ODIs and 3 tests too, so it's all in 3s

I'm a Cantab, living in Christchurch, and I think this is a wonderful gesture. Really looking forward to this. I hate T20, but will make an exception.

SAfricans posted a modest total of 150, with LEvi top scoring on 63. There was a bit of a collapse after he got dismissed, but Amla hung on to make 35. Stand out of the Canterbury bowlers was George Worker 3/23.

Lopsy started the bowling very well, and SAfrica were off to a great start with the ball, there was a bit of a top order collapse, but a middle order fight back for Canterbury to put them back in the contest. The eighth wicket stand lasted 60odd runs before my man Morne broke it and there were only 8 runs scored between the 2 wickets that followed. Lopsy was the pick of the SAfrican bowlers taking 4/18. In the end, SAfrica won this match by 20 runs in the 19th over.

I hate T20s, but this was for a good cause and I am glad my Proteas have made a winning start to this tour
