What a stupid response. If we don't go to the game, no money goes to charity. What we want is all of it to go to charity, not half.

Exactly my point. If people feel so strongly against it, don't go.
The set up gives the two participants money to give to charities.
You can take the attitude of I'm going to go to support charity X as well as the game and be happy with yourself for contributing.
Or you can whinge that I paid my $ for a game and they didn't spend $5 of it the way I wanted.
Talk about a non-issue.
