Can't agree Adam. When his Manly team mates are at the bar ordering top shelf grog during training, DCE has to make do with tap beers.

Yep, Sandow's proven to be valuable taking Eels to a 0 from 2 start. Money well spent. Dragging Parra into this hardly strengthens your argument, they are in a situation as dire as 50uff$.

And your wrong about me, my taxes pay the Centrelink payments to 50uff$ fans.
Sandow's their highest point scorer atm and was the NRL's highest point scorer last year... If DCE leaves I'm sure your mob would wish they had him lol.
Btw, tax on the money you earn at your local sheltered workshop doesn't count.

Oh and speaking of clubs in dire situations, yours is a lot worse than most... seems your chip stealers are broke and now totally reliant on the grace of Scott Penn, your club's board is in turmoil, you've got no juniors coming through, poor membership numbers, you've lost your coach and players are now queing up to leave.... good luck with all that.

And in spite of all that Manly will still finish ahead of the Rabbletohs for many years to come

All these problems and dramas better get sorted out soon or we might win another two premierships in the next four years...

Talking of dire situations, 40 years and counting. At least Manly has 2 premierships in the last 4. Manly have more premierships since the turn of the century than 50uff$ have finals appearances.

I know he signed the contract but dam, 85k this season? Manly must of seen this coming so if they lose him its cause of their own bad management.

I reckon he signed that contract before he made his debut. So $85k to play reggies is pretty good for a kid that was knocked back by every club. Manly probably had both Orford and Hodgkinson on the books back then too. DCE would've been third in line maybe.
Don't think anyone expected him to get picked for Australia in his rookie year either. So on top of proving he was worth 1st grade halfback money, rep selection would've added something like $100k to his price I guess.
Will Hopoate was on $100k at Manly and Parra have reportedly given him $500k. Hard, if not impossible, for any club to deal with price rises like that in 12 months. I'm guessing DCE is asking for $500k ONO.

Seems Manly works by recruiting juniors from other areas (as well as locally), developing them into champions, then losing them cos they become too expensive.... So I hope that means even if Manly lose DCE or Foran or whoever they will have quality and keen young players waiting in the wings to replace whoever leaves... Although now Crusher has gone to the Dirty Dogs our recruitment probably isn't as good as it was...

Cusher is being seen for what he is - a mercenary. Great recruitment officer - agreed. Unlike other great talent scouts like Arthur Beetson and Cyril Connell - he aint club loyal. This is crucial for talent scouts as the form a link with the players they recruit for life. Crusher and Jamie Lyon are a point on case. When Crusher left Parra, we were dirty, but there was a sence that because he was a Manly legend as a player there was an element of loyalty in him returning "home". Ostensibly, Lyon did his Judas act out of loyalty to Crusher.

At the moment DCE is probably the form half of the comp. But with only a seson under his belt there is no guarantee that he will end up like Thurston and not like Leo Dynevor, Matthew Head, Willie Peters or Tim Smith. Same to an extent with Foran - although he's got a Kiwi jersey long term - that depends on Shaun Johnsto and Benji Marshall.

DCE is on a base contract. At this stage in their careers, so were Israel Folau, Heather, Hindy, Jamie Lyon, Jonathon Thurston, SBW, half the Wests pack and Anthony Minichiello when they played their first grand finals.

Evans and Foran have the best future if they stick together at Manly. Either way, the big contracts will come, but staying together at Manly will maximise their potential for premierships and rep jumpers. Even if they take unders, their personal income potential will see them earn overs with sucess. Blokes like Willie Mason never understood that.

I cant see them leaving and staying together. Who could afford that (although we could have last year ironically). I am confident that the Roberts/Sandow combination will still be ours in 2015, and while not as good potentially as what Manly have, the fact that they wont price themselves out of the market will keep them together. Neither of them have the talent of Benji Marshall or JT or Stacey Jones or Joey - and if anyone can name the big name halves partner any of them had at club level during their better paid years good luck. *

*Disclaimer on Matty Johns, who was Joeys brother after all. Besides, the salary cap got Matty too.
