CHISEL REFORM...

Had this have been released yesterday I'd have passed it off as the usual rumour that states this each year but bugger me if this doesnt seem genuine... Guess who's birthday is in June & now knows what he's getting :D Wednesday April 2, 12:06 PM
Cold Chisel reform for Sydney gigs
Australian rockers Cold Chisel will come together for only the second time since they disbanded 20 years ago for a series of intimate Sydney concerts. The concerts will be held in the round at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion in June, allowing the audience an unprecedented 360 degree view of the band. The furthest seat is less than 30 metres from the stage. Dubbed the Ringside series, the shows will combine the ambience of a boxing ring with the special occasion of an historic reunion, the event's publicist said today. The intimate shows will last two and a half hours, showcasing old favourites, new songs, rarely-performed tracks, and even some solo songs and pieces by other people who have been important to the band. The idea came from the small stage six-song bracket the band performed during its Last Wave of Summer tour in 1998, and was partly inspired by Elvis Presley's 1968 comeback TV special, staged in a similar setting. Lead singer Jimmy Barnes said the occasion was very special for the band members and audiences. "So far we've done two weeks of casual rehearsals at my place, and already the band has a swing about it that it didn't have the last time we played together," he said. Cold Chisel are one of the most successful bands in Australian rock history. They broke up in 1983 but since then Cold Chisel has sold over three million albums and CDs, with their Best Of compilation now the highest-selling Australian recording with sales exceeding one million. The band's members, Barnes, Ian Moss, Don Walker, Phil Small and Steve Prestwich, went on to various solo successes following the break-up. The Ringside series will be a one-off special event and there are no immediate plans for further shows in any other city. The performance will be filmed and recorded for album and DVD release. Tickets will be available from Ticketek for the gigs on June 3 and 4.

And Duran Duran are reforming as well... so what?

When willthese old dinosaurs realised that that their time has passed?
They've done allright out the industry and can live off royalties and the odd re-hash compilation album.
Who's the support act? Australian Crawl... again? Or have they decided to give someone with a few fresh ideas a go?

They'll be there in droves offcourse. The damn Cold Chisel army of whiskered fans with stretch marks across their tatts. Not to mention the hair protuding from their ears... and I'm just talking about the women.

But yeah I know...they'll all be happy... probably about 20,000 of them. Therefore I can only wish one-and-all a good time... even if I think Jimmy Barnes sucks.

It's a pity Barnes didn't stay in France.

Maybe he'll drag out The Tin Lids as a support act.
