Years ago, halfbacks like Phil Blake, Greg Alexander and Allan Langer used to try things off the cuff. They were great to watch because they were unpredictable.

Fast forward to 2008. Halfbacks today play like absolute robots. They show no flair. All they do is play 1st reciever and kick on the fifth. Absolutely predictable.

Chris Sandow is a breath of fresh air. This guy is NOT afraid to try things and is extremely skillful. Im not a JT fan, but I'll praise him for giving Sandow a free rein and not trying to make a robot out of him. He is one of my favourite players to watch. Geez, he reminds me of Alfie. Im not saying he is as good as Alf yet, but he is great to watch.

Prince and Sandow are the only halves in the NRL who don't play like programmed robots.

Add Thurston to that list otari.

Sandow's been making waves in Queensland for the past few years and it's great to see him making an impact in the NRL. Hopefully he continues to develop.

Sandow definetaly has great natural football talent but his D is a bit weak. Understandble for a bloke his size though. I was a big fan of the 40/20 play. They should have just given the feed to souths.

Johnny Morris has bucketloads of natural flair.

about as much as a week old muffin

sandowhas played well above his weight since debuting, and i think that has kind of out shon his defensive deficiencies. i reckon he should be put in a room with issac luke and a tackle bag and not be allowed out until hit hits like luke

Sandow is certainly one talented little bugger. Without him and Luke Souths would have been lapped by 50 last night, brilliant little players the both of them.

Sandow showed yet another special from his bag of tricks last night. It was called "punching the marker in the head 1m from the ref but not conceding a penalty". Even old Alfir couldnt pull that one off!

So I wasn't the only person who saw it then? Where are the Soufffffs fans talking about that? Of course they think it was only us that got away with stuff...

As for Sandow, he is a great attacking half that's for sure, his defence leaves a little to be desired unfortunately. A mixture of Mitchell Pearce's leadership and defence with Sandow's flair and kicking game would be one lethal young half.

*Waits for some silly Souths fan to start a Sandow VS Pearce thread/poll on which halfback would you prefer*

I'd vote for Sandow btw :p

But on that note he is a smart player and as long as he keeps in trouble off the field and doesn't go walkabouts he'll be a great player. People bag his defence but the good thing is he tries- I mean you have other players who don't even try sometimes but the kid is not afraid to get in their and tackle. i love the fact he has a Kimmorley like kicki chase game always the first down there following his kicks.

And Rooster fans i saw that incident as well... was it Friend or Aubusson he punched?? Lol he got away with that like Roberts got away with scoring a try with a boot on the line ;)

Its a shame the Titans released him...we could have used his skills while Prince was missing.:(

technically halves but i think he was referring to half backs, whilst these guys are 5/8s

Was an interesting comment by Matty Johns (I think) about how he thought Benji should be a halfback.

I think his confidence has dropped too much to take on the line so half may be a better position for him than 5/8.

one of my favourite non tigers players. love watching the little bloke play. after his first few games i thought all he had was a passing and kicking game ala tim smith, but as his confidence has risen we've seen he actually has a very good running game.

Id prefer a half who could tackle. As for the punch in the head I liked how he did it then ran away like a little girl.

These are the areas that RL needs to address when considering rule changes.

I'd rather have rules that compensate for great attacking ability and poor defence, such as slowing down the play the ball.

I pay money to see guys like Sandow play, not zero-attack hard working drones like Liam Fulton.

I know they're all 5/8 strictly speaking (though they've all played halfback and Mullen plays there more often I'd say). Wallace can be very creative as well.
