Not sure if this is the spot for it. There's always heaps of surprises and loads of players pulling out. I didn't include Hayne, Bmoz, Farah, bird, Tamou, Gallen, Lewis, tedesco, b.stewart, Fifita as they will all be playing for Australia or injured:

City:

1. Hopoate
2. Tupou
3. Leulia
4. Jennings
5. Taufua
6. J.Reynolds
7. Pearce
8. Woods (could be playing for Australia)
9. Peats
10. Galloway
11. Hoffman
12. Graham
13. Watmough (could be playing for Australia)

14. Grant
15. Mannah
16. Buhrer
17. Sutton

Country:
1. Dugan
2. McManus
3. Morris
4. Idris
5. M.Gordon
6. Carney
7. Mullen
8. Mason
9. Ennis
10. Merrin
11. Cordner
12. Stewart
13. Fensom

14. Gidley
15. Snowden
16. Docker

Watmough will be playing for Aus for sure and Albert Kelly will be there somewhere. So will Maloney unfortunately.

I can see David Mead potentially playing himself into a country jersey now he is getting some ball at full back.

I would have Hodkinson instead of Pearce but I know that won't happen. Other than that I pretty much agree

with the 3 best australian halves being qlders [cronk, thurston, and cherry-evans], therefore all playing in the test, this game should be a selection trial for the nsw halves and one bench spot for SOO 1. unless jarryd plays 6 for the blues?
with maloney and carney injured, do spots to impress now open for albert kelly and adam reynolds?

pat richards must get a wing spot. is he city?

Peats would be a certainty. Good to see a few Penrith players picked though I doubt any are in contention for a blues jersey.

This should be a good game, better then the test match anyway.

Apparently Dugan, Merrin and Frizell all ruled out. 'Injuries' again I suppose, just like Matt Cooper. Sezer out too.

City-Country is just pointless now. I was a staunch defender for years for 2 reasons: 1) Because it's good to have it in the country and country people are still interested and 2) for an Origin trial.

But now, the Coffs Harbour crowd last year shows that we aren't interested in it anymore and all the player's pulling out/not being selected in the first place means it's not even an Origin trial anymore.

Geez are we gonna expect more changes after tonight?

City has gone from Sezer replaced by Hodkinson, now Hodkinson is being replaced by Lichaa and Graham replaced by Lussick.

Not as many as Country's changes though.

I don't know why the half backs would even play. Laurie has already said Pearce is going to be the 7 so what's the point.

Look (sorry for the point-form):

1. I'm from the Country.
2. I love watching the City-Country games. Prefereably live. Or Ninelive.
3. In order for it to continue they have to stop playing it on the same week as the ANZAC test. That's what has killed the concept, moreso than all the players pulling out for minor injuries that they would carry into an NRL game.
4. For this to happen, there has to be something in it for those who are involved. What do the clubs get out of it? Besides players with representative experience? How about extra funding for each club for every representative they get picked in the game. Share the money evenly between the CRL and the clubs.
5. Regardless of that, I really am BEYOND sick of every year City-based journos coming out and saying how meaningless the game is in the lead-up. Nothing will ever change their mind no matter how good the game is, how big the crowd is or how many people watch it on TV. Just another cliche article to pump out about annually why you don't want to watch a game you probably aren't going to watch anyway unless you are forced too. Just enjoy it for what it is and what it might mean to other people out there as well.

OUT.

There's been something like 45 players pull out of the test and City-Country. Some with legitimate injuries, some that are apparently right for next week.
