Hi all, I am genuinely curious to know what goes on in our club. The questions I have is who does the CEO (Webb) report too and what is his role, What is the boards role in the club and who makes the final decision in regards to signings, coach sackings etc. Please try and keep this factual and not a piss take on the coach, we know he’s shit!! Thanks guys.

So am i. Wouldn't the coach, recruitment and all employees of the football club ( including administration ) report to the CEO ? The CEO then reports to the board ?
Always amazes me who easy it is for board members to hide. It is not like a registered club board member ( i acknowledge that some of ours are both ) in that if he is not seen regularly at the club he/ she is likely to be voted out the next election.

How some NRL club boards try to justify not breaking even after been given money from the NRL of 3 to 5 million a year over the salary cap plus gate takings & sponsorship shows how amateur most of them are.

and then I would assume the board report to major stake holders in the club?... if it is that the coach reports to the CEO then is it not his job to sack/retain a coach and not the boards? It would be interesting to see if anyone actually knows the proper structure

The Board reports to it's members namely St George Leagues Club and WIN Corp.

The head coach reports to the CEO.

The Board deligates certain powers to the CEO but not absolute power to sack the head coach.

The CEO recommends actions to the Board that are beyond the CEO's authority.

On the Boards approval, the CEO will give notice of termination to the head coach.

One of the issues that causes posters to ark up on this forum is the relationship between Millward and Mary. The conventional wisdom is that the coach gets what he wants and that may well be the reality. But if we are talking formal power structures and flow charts, according to the SMH at least, Millward is Mary's boss so there may be another arrow in there somewhere.
