Is this a gee up? or is Clyde actually a chance of playing?

What about insurance?

What would this do to the game(s) if this is how serious the dogs take it?

Always count on the Dogs or somebody that originates from the dogs to do something dispicable to the detriment of the game.

"Always count on the Dogs or somebody that originates from the dogs to do something dispicable to the detriment of the game."

How is naming Brad Clyde as a possible 17th man a detriment to the game? Folkes was in a corner given there was a chance he would be down a man due to injury and his next best alternative was a former international and modern day great who just happened to be their media manager.

Whilst the chorus is loud and clear from Bulldogs haters, this is not an example of Canterbury doing anything "dispicable to the detriment of the game".

A post made perhaps to bait a Doggies fan...nothing original and has happened 5-6 times already this week in which you may find a link in the above post.

Meh. It's still the off-season, and people just like ranting...usually about us.

Still funny, but!!..."Always count on the Dogs or somebody that originates from the dogs to do something dispicable to the detriment of the game." - in relation to Brad Clyde possibly filling in in a Mickey Mouse game halfway round the globe - is the dodgiest call of 2005 thus far...And that's REALLY saying something, given Melon's been running round hysterically lighting fires round here like a madman recently!

Mr. Reefy - take a bow!

Not at all struggling.

Brad Clyde was one of the best forwards in the game.
In the 90's.

Why doesnt Folkes just play himself? He was a good player too.

Maybe even Pepenis. He was even better.

This is nothing about Clyde(how he got mixed up in that club defies explanation) as he is a great ambasador for the game.
But he is no longer a player & hasnt been for 4 years. Probably 6 when you take into consideration injuries.

So just like that Dogs supporter wrote, a mickey mouse game, half way around the world.
yeah good one twat, the leagues are spending millions on this event trying to elevate the game & look what the feral dogs do. Play a 3rd grade team with a bloke 6 years in retirement as 18th man.

f**king disgrace but typical of Dogs & their supporter attitudes.

I reckon if the Dogs are down on numbers, they should have flown someone over earlier in the week. I mean seriously here, it doesn't take a week to get to the old dart from australia. The other option is borrow a player from an ESL club. I'm sure it would take much to arrange, even if it was a promising lower grade player.

For the record I do think the Dogs are taking this game to lightly. We want our game to flourish at all levels, and this is the highest honour a club can achive at this point in time.

Millions, on this event

Idiot.

So do you know what they are spending? Do you know what sort of media advertising they are doing?

If it was less than a million or two it's not nearly enough.

I hate the Dogs as much as the next guy but there is really nothing wrong with this Clyde situation if he can register and play legally

Nothing wrong with playing Clyde?
Nothing wrong if u r a part of the Dogs culture & think this game is just an annoyance.

The pommes don't take it lightly & play their full strength teams. The ytake it seriosuly & have respect for the game & the efforts of those trying to elevate it.

& over the years, this game has had million spent on it. You Dumbass idiots.

In trying to establish the brand, advertising, flying teams, paying players, prizes etc.

So the dogs use it as a trial for emerging players & to give retired players another hoorah.

Great effort low lifes.

I'd actually prefer Clyde to play... reports say that he's fit enough... it would be interesting to see if he's still got it. I think the Dogs have tried hard to send pretty much their strongest available team.

thats right eloquentEEL

o'meley, mason, ryan, sherwin, matt utai are all not playing, all international players aside from sherwin who would be if he was english or brittish and could easily be playing for australia

we havent found a ready made replacement for price yet. we have sent the best team we could.

now regarding blacktip reefy, he is obviously an absolute drop kick with the mental capacity of a newt. whatever inbred buck toothed hick gave birth to him is the real low life. a mars bar wrapper and an elastic band is not propper contraception

YEAH And guess what dude!!! It's Going too be a SELLOUT... The first sellout in this type of game since it's return at the start of 2000... It's created interest!! They are actually talking about it on the tv and writing about it on the papers, i never remember hearing about this game until the result and only for a minute!!

People need too get over thir hatred of the Bulldogs NOT EVERYTHING WE DO IS WRONG!!!
The 6 players OUT ARE INJURED! We are taking it 100% seriously! In all honesty if they brought over another player it would of given him 4-5 days (IF LUCKY) too get over the 30 odd hour flight...

As covered, the Dogs have sent their strongest available team...though do not let fact get in the way of your post in which your trying to get your point across my friend.

Bulldogs 2004 Grand Final winning team was as follows:

1 - Luke Patten - Playing
2 - Hazem El Masri - Playing
3 - Ben Harris - Injured
4 - Willie Tonga - Playing
5 - Matt Utai - Injured

6 - Braith Anasta - Playing
7 - Brent Sherwin - Injured

8 - Mark O'Meley - Injured
9 - Adam Perry - Playing
11 - Willie Mason - Injured
14 - Reni Maitua - Playing
12 - Andrew Ryan - Injured
13 - Tony Grimaldi - Playing

15 - Corey Hughes - Playing
16 - Roy Asotasi - Playing
17 - Sonny-Bill Williams - Playing
18 - Jonathan Thurston - Signed with NQ Cowboys

The Bulldogs have added players to the team that are potential 1st grade players or new signings; Trent Cutler, Chris Armit, Ben Czislowski, Adam Brideson, Brett Oliver and Nate Myles. Jamal Lolesi was did not take part in the Grand Final though from memory in the leadup he was injured and missed a handful of games.

Either way, as I said, don't let fact ruin your blinded opinion.

Cheers

The World Club Challenge is always a tough game to get a side together for...it is basically nothing more than an exhibition due to the time of the year it happens and the availability of players due to off season injuries/surgery and general fitness etc.

The Dogs are missing a truckload of players, perhaps they should have taken their Flegg side over instead of playing a highly decorated and respected champion who will probably get as big a cheer from the Leeds crowd as anyone...I honestly don't think this is really going to destroy the game at all and may actually add something to it.

have you know Clyde is one of the fittest guys to play the game.....he may not be in his prime...still better than some of the players taking part in the side regardless of age

As Geoff Carr has pointed out, the Bulldogs did not have to go over for this game. They're there though, with their strongest side. They took over their strongest 18 players available. They've suffered two injuries whilst over there. Clyde was seen as the only possible emergency replacement, should both be unable to play. One of them has now been cleared to play, but Clyde is still available should another injury occur between now and kick-off.

The Bulldogs have their best available players over there. Clyde is still only an emergency replacement. The pommie sides have won 7 of the last 10 WCC's, so I guess you can start questioning the commitment of the other Australian sides who have put in lack-lustre performances, including the virtually unbeatable Broncos of the 90's.

The players they are using are the next in line behind the injured players.

Were you critical of QLD when they recalled Alan Langer for the state of origin - the biggest showcase in our game? I didn't hear anyone complaining about that. In fact, it ignited even more interest in the match, and judging by the majority of attitudes to the Clyde situation, it's doing likewise.
