Absolutely stoked. Hard to give a 3-2-1 until I've seen the Prime replay, but great to get some entertainment back to watch. Been bagging em for most of the year so credit where it's due...you can't help but think why oh why couldn't this have been a few weeks ago. But it's not like they're playing for nothing-it's for supporters, those commendable buggers at the home games week after week.

Just a thought...seeing Maloney has been "finched" by two different clubs, it is entirely possible that he could be "Mooned" at the Warriors.

well maloney has been signed as a half and seymour as a 5/8.. but if moon can build on todays performance and keep consistency then seymour might find himself at 7.
im not going to harp on about moons game today, dont get me wrong he was sensational BUT thats 1 and a half (1st half against parra in rd 1) good games out of 10 or so at 5/8..?
not such a great track record. lets see if he can back it up against quality next week.

3 Joel Moon - best 5/8ths performance I can remember since Lance started out for the Warriors
2 Ukuma Ta'ai - he's always bending the line back and he threw a couple of wicked offloads as well, great future
1 Aaron Heremaia - when he was on there was a really nice balance between direct play and width, which to me said he was picking the right options as opposed to Henderson whose passing game right now is limited and defensive lines have wised up to his play on trying to get soft penalties. Last year Hendo got those penalties and he made opposing markers stagey and so was very effective, but I think they've caught up to him now.

2nd year syndrome and a lot of pressure to perform. Now that final hopes are over and he got another shot at 5/8th he probably felt less pressure. The trial game at north harbour at the very start of the season he had a blinder, under no pressure, i hope he can adapt for next year at 5/8th with maloney as backup for now.

It felt like the good old days at Mt Smart yesterday, walking away after an entertaining win where we played an entertaining brand. Man it felt sweet.

3- Ta'ai. Very excited about his potential.
2- Moon. Brilliant. Won't get too carried away yet but if he can find consistency we'll be so much better for him at No.6.
1- Sammy. As per above, except for the No.6 part.

I think yesterday highlighted how it could have been so much different for Stacey had the team around him been firing. He was allowed to concentrate on organising and his sixth tackle options on attack and he had a fine game.

I think yesterday highlighted that a degree of freedom was always needed in the ranks. I think it highlights the basics of football, backrowers run at centres and halves, props hit up and look to either secure a dominant ruck for the next raid or to get a ball onto someone in a better position before or through the ruck, halves set their backlines with a bit more depth and evaluate when its on. Maybe the defensive line could have hit with more vigour/moved up quicker if you want to equate it to a top 4 team, but essentially the game plan was basic yet offered different points of attack. Ivan made a comment in the press during the week that the team's decision to get Stacey to chip to Manu repetitively was because it at least had a chance of succeeding, well here they showed that there's more to it than that.

The performance of Moon I think was the game changer. And yes, for once, it was fun to see the end of a game and know that you just watched football like the way you always loved the Warriors to play football. Maybe that brand doesn't get props getting 200m and backrowers 50 tackles, maybe it doesn't get halfbacks with perfect completions and no errors, but maybe it re-emphasises that we are who we are and are good at what we can do and with slight modifications but certainly not overhauls we can be extremely damaging.

I think this where the crux of it lies. If they were honest, the coaches would probably say this year they have placed too much important on statistical indicators like metres and completions.
